Just read in the local newspaper someone reporting a gang of youths shooting magpies with air rifles, (in Chorley Lancs) and asking if this is legal, the answer is New laws on the killing of wild birds kicked in this year, this came in after the general licences to shoot pests were withdrawn, following complaints from conservationists and legal challenges by TV presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham, the new legislation allows you to control certain species in order to protect other wild birds, flora fauna crops, fisheries and livestock, or to preserve public health and safety, birds mentioned were, magpies, carrion crows, the jackdaw and others,????????

PS.anyone know anything regarding this,
