Bryngwynt Lofts Posted May 18, 2019 Report Posted May 18, 2019 if you got ybs weaned just now you could race them My suggestion also, had lad last year who was racing first race with a youngster still squeaking. Club mate asked if they wanted to send it, he replied its fine its trained out to 50 miles
Daniellewis1986 Posted May 18, 2019 Author Report Posted May 18, 2019 I had better get some brought then and stop just thinking about every day of the week. Haha
neila Posted May 18, 2019 Report Posted May 18, 2019 I won the 2nd yb race with a baby hatched on 27th of April the following week the winner hatched on the 20th April, But I got them in the sky early and they run within 3 or 4 weeks of being weaned
plumber Posted May 18, 2019 Report Posted May 18, 2019 My suggestion also, had lad last year who was racing first race with a youngster still squeaking. Club mate asked if they wanted to send it, he replied its fine its trained out to 50 miles I’m sure I read somewhere that Back in the days before life rings were introduced you had to have your youngsters squeak at ringer before they could enter YB races to prove they were actually youngsters
neneland Posted February 25, 2020 Report Posted February 25, 2020 I have sent squeakers to the first race, from memory I think 12 weeks old is as young as you can get and send with confidence. If you can get them down the road and coming well, then they are ready. In the end, the birds will tell you whether they are ready or not.
