  1. I haven't read the original as haven't many of you who seem to have jumped all over this chap , he's got an opinion either agree or disagree if his comments make you angry reply to it , but do it as a responsible member of the forum, there are plenty of ways to refer to someone as the last 1cm of your lower intestines without actually using the phrase which so easily comes to mind . Why bother in the first place ,some people write to get a snappy response out of others don't rise to them, there are some of you who are out there thinking " well thats what you are doing " WRONG , All i'm trying to do is what someone in authority should do with this site, point out that replies without reasonable restraint are GOING TO DO YOU AND OUR SPORT DAMAGE. I don't post a lot and so won't be missed. but when i do the replies i get are very helpful. But it's beyond a joke now . Your not all pigeon fanciers on this site , judge jury and executioner is how i see it , some of you seem to have realised that there are youngsters and possibly non fanciers( interested in the hobby /not interested in the hobby anti's ) reading this and have caught on with the implications of what you are writing and I agree that if you want to call someone who you've never met and who's typing style offends your way of life then it should be done on private messages, otherwise the gossips jump on your case and down we all go again. I won't be posting again and I feel bad that you can be so narrow minded. Merry christmas and success for 2007
  2. iwrote this reply to a thread on "does anyone race pigeons" and I feel quite strongly that its content is valid enough to to run on it's own , that coupled with the fact you probably would get bored reading through the comments in the original and miss this. Here's something to think about. My son is 9 years old , we haven't raced yet but were ready to start , every day he comes home from school and , providing he's got no home work, the first thing he does is go out to see his birds . then when it's too dark he comes in and starts viewing this site for all the new posts. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING STOPPING HIM GOING ON THE SITE! This started out as a perfectly good observation and quickly deteriorated into the traditional name calling and back biting that has led to people leaving. Did anyone bother to read the terms that were sent out? And as for the content of some of the threads that are posted . I keep pigeons, I know that there are predators both domesticated and wild and I know that its an absolute sickener when one takes a bird , but for gods sake don't start writing how you deal with such creatures whether you actually do or are just feeling brave because you can hide within the internet. This kind of stuff can lead to all kind of trouble maybe not directly at you the writer but for the sport as a whole trust me there are people out there who are extreme enough to lobby parliament to get our hobby shut down, read cage and aviary bird - this is a paper not dissimilar to bhw and every week the first 4 pages are devoted to bird flu activists and politics.WHY because we can argue amongst ourselves and they just sit there gathering our comments and then striking when we weren't looking. Also some of the language and grammar is disgraceful , phones R 4 TXTing M8 .Lets put a bit of pride in our comments, spare a thought for the younger fanciers who's view of pigeon racing has not yet been tainted. Ps my name is richard kemp please feel free to reply
  3. Paul, google uk sites "pigeon racing council " they give you a load of different council requirements for max bird numbers and locations etc .might give you a bit more of a chance especially if youre armed with marks letter good luck
  4. My m8 would agree with alf , he'd fed barley in various mixes of his own throughout the season and puts this down to a bad batch . the birds that were "leaking" looked 100% really silky feathers they were in top condition.
  5. A good friend of mine was feeding mostly barley and some of his birds not all were passing pure water . it was pouring out of them and it stank , i even posted a request for any ideas you might have to fix it - he decided to cut the barley out all together and feed peas they were back passing walnut whips within 3 days, its also worth mentioning they all looked fantastic regardless of what their insides were doing. Mine are on bucktons economy with a bit of linseed and black rape , ive noticed that theyre eating the wheat and maize first then moving on to the peas and lastly the beans so im increasing the amount of peas slowly as breeding time approaches to get them used to them.
  6. why is the eyesign and technology thread not showing any replies in the reply column, granted you've all been slow with your responses and i'm sure your all going to rush and vote now but there are 3 messages and 1 vote.
  7. hanks for your comments.... I used to race 20 odd years ago now its me and my 3 kids and im trying to find as many ways as possible to get more people interested in the sport ... technology still seems to be the main stumbling block I think the idea is good too pity that the 30 other visitors couldn't vote or add comments still thats sadly the way. perhaps you could enlighten me further about eyesign a couple of points that confuse me 1 which eye do you look at on the bird - I have a hen with a bull eye on her right and a violet left 2 spinksy for the boglin marsh page write that good pigeons "should have within the iris a black line that appears as if someone has stroked a brush of black paint from the center outwards between 2 and 3 oclock " again this depends on which eye your looking at as to which way 2-3 oclock goes - is your bird any good if the line is 9-10 ? Kind regards Juan
  8. Your comments required ..... Ive been looking through the homing world at the eye sign photos - there are a lot of references to colours that it would seem dont show up in print and circles that are invisible to a novice , so i was wondering if anyone who judges shows in eyesign classes thinks that having all the eyes in the show photographed ( or even just the winners ) then they could be shown on a projector and the basic parts explained to the participants. I appreciate that this is only any good if you have access to this equipment but would appreciate comments ps ive attached a poll or at least i think i have thanks juan
  9. 2200 including boxes and perching i'd wait 8 weeks for that at those prices......looks like blakes are getting a call in the morning. thanks all for your comments keep 'em coming
  10. thanks for the message, how complicated was your design ?- do you find you've got enough ventilation? our design is a 28 ft long 8 ft wide pent shed with 5 sections left to right 6ft x 6ft hens 8ft x 6ft ybs 6ft x 6ft cocks 8ft x 4ft storage and 8ft x 4ft stock there will be a 2ft corridor to the front of the 3 racing sections and all trapping to be through open double sliders central to ybs - ybs will trap through bob wires in the corridor wall ( dowelled panels )- i can feel my wallet panicking as i'm writing.
