  2. Hi, would it do any harm to mark eggs with a pencil as I am try to foster some eggs and would like to keep an account of what ones are fertile/successful to and from different birds, easier to keep track if I can put small mark with a pencil?????
  3. What about tongue & groove it will have gaps? Use floor tiles and as long as they have a sound base and good grout they will not crack.....plus you would put a covering on top of tiles ie wood shavings....tiles only make it easy to clean Get discontinued or job excess left overs cheap or for the lifting
  4. Think I'll investigate the tiled floor theory, tounge and groove floor on top of well supported 8x2 joists, covered with sterling board and then tiled...sounds sound to me Will post photos when constructing
  5. what materials do you suggest for a covered aviary 16x8 with canstant access to pigeons

    Thanks

Yes good advice, have experience in building/engineerining the front of the loft will face east so high adjustable vents, low vents to the west as most rain comes from south easterly winds, one side will face south to cut down on heat from sunny days, other side will get less chill area from the north winds The roof will be sterling board sheeted and vented with formed steel sheets on top, this allows heat to be kept in loft and air to pass through forms and convect air The front of the loft will overlap the aviary which will be sheeted with formed plastic, the birds will be allowed constant access to aviary so cutting down on mess in loft. The aviary will have a drained gravel base, would like feedback on top covering suggestions please

    Thanks

I used to keep pigeons and started again with doves in a cote hence dovescot Thanks for everyones help and all for all the names, numbers and links. I now have a good stock of pigeons. I have a broad band of fantails and a good collection of white racers. I have a 16x8 loft and a 16x8 aviary which is good but one that was continually adapted and extended I am building a brand new second loft from scratch and will post the photos of its progress, I am an engineer with building experience but would like help and ideas from the pigeon fraterity. It will be a 16x8 loft and a 16x8 aviary again to get the most out of building materials, but pupose built this time Found people on pigeon basics in the whole "when you get past the banter tangents" to be most helpful but not all "you know who you are" the ones that didn't bother replying to my requests for help even by private message Again thanks for the help to those that did

    AMTRAK AGAIN

Amtrak prices £30.00 for up to four birds £35.00 for six birds £40.01 for eight birds £45.01 for ten birds £50.02 for twelve birds Free boxes, either singles or boxes for up to six birds Tried but found nobody else that would handle livestock, I don't think it would not be viable for small private companies to deliver birds, it needs one of the large couriers to add them to their services You would need statistics on business that may be generated from pigeon deliveries and present to other major couriers to get them interested Maybe a webmaster could get this set up

    AMTRAK AGAIN

It says use box once only, but if they are clean and birds were healthy can you not use them again

    AMTRAK AGAIN

I was meant to get boxes delivered friday so they could be picked up monday, they arrived yesterday, Amtrak excuse was the pickup address was "old school" they tried to deliver to "old school house".....easy mistake but you think if it was easy to make then it would be easy to rectify....."heres your boxes...no for me.....it says "old school"....this is "old shool house"....."old school" is across the road despite phoning every day no one gave this reason until they arrived yesterday......the birds are meant to arrive before 12 noon today :X
