Roland if you look at the whole picture then you would see why I do have genuine grievence with Amtrak...so just in case you missed it I'll paint it again......The birds were picked up 09.30 am Thursday and delivered two days later 10.35 am Saturday...are you with me so far......I enquired to my local depot at 12.15 am wondering where the birds were......They were scanned in at bristol hub 04.20am friday...and were still there for some reason.......Amtrak said they would feed and water the birds and UPGRADE me to a saturday delivery......I accept mistakes happen...get the picture so far.....I phoned the local depot to make sure they were getting delivered......THEY'RE HERE BUT WE DON'T HAVE YOUR ADDRESS......the birds arrived 10.35 am still with the original tape on the box, no sign of being opened so I assume not fed or watered as promised by Amtrak I accept that birds will squabble but surely the least possible time they are kept together the lesser time they have to damage each other So Roland if you think I should put up or shut up.....don't think so....in fact not f###ing likely I really don't see where you are coming from on this one, I maybe just coming out the pigeon basics egg but believe me I am well fledged and no frightened to ruffle the big cocks feathers

Don't just complain to the driver or the local branch, let the head know what the hands and feet are are doing wrong, Don't wait till you get a sale for birds to order free boxes, they will give you as many as you like FREE, they are flat packed so easy to store

The local branch got onto the bristol hub and assured me the birds would be fed and watered due to it being their botch-up. Saturday 09.30 checked with local branch to make sure.....we have your birds but don't have your address.....delivered at 10.45 saturday, box taped with original tape from invincible_spirit, they were not fed or watered I have started an enquiry with Amtrak quality control IF ANY ONE ELSE GETS A PROBLEM, GO TO AMTRAK WEB SITE....TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER...CONTACT US.....SEND YOUR COMPLAINT TO QUALITY CONTROL. ... BEFORE YOU RECEIVE A BIRD IN THIS CONDITION...I WILL TAKE THIS TO THE MEDIA TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR INCOMPETENCE IF THEY DON'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER. DON'T JUST COMPLAIN TO THE DRIVER OR THE BRANCH

No but I don't mind as I was quite open about it, We lost most of our birds to salmonella last year, we had the birds post mortemed by DEFRA and as we have a small holding with other livestock including chickens so we had to get the all clear from DEFRA before we could eat or sell eggs, which we now have. We also stay on the edge of the country so eradicating all the things that carry disease would be impossible Our salmonella was brought in by a pigeon I bought from a guy, it was a carrier who showed no signs of any ailment. He has since lost all his stock because he did not want to involve DEFRA Ailments are present in all creatures and when you vaccinate you put in parts of the ailment so they can build up antibodies. The ailment comes to the fore for a number of reasons. New strains...so quarantine, Stress, don't over vacinate. We now have regular checks and glad to say we have the all clear We always quarantine new birds, we have never lost a bird again we send a live bird and samples of droppings to DEFRA Your always taking a chance when using any poison because if the the vermin pick it up on their feet they can spread it about, therefore a chance other creatures picking it up. Electronic repellents are great if you have a power source. Traps are good only if you can check them regular Thanks for your concern but we now have good healthy birds, sadly we had to learn the hard way

Get a margarine tub and cut a small hole in it, get some antifreeze and dip some bread in it. But a brick on top of the tub so the birds can't get to it. Or get a milk bottle and put the bread/antifreeze in iy and lie on its side Place them in and around the lofts Worked well in the pits

I want to mark eggs because of fostering, we have pairs that we don't want to breed from, we mave two pairs that mate but never produce live eggs, but they are great parents. We have exhibition fantails that are poor parents but good breeders So it is easier if we can mark the eggs and note whats what in a book

Good idea but you would have to control bird till varnish dried, woudn't it be dangerous to the bird if they pecked at it
