  1. Is this something you do to your own pens, or is it a common colour used at shows?

  3. Definately, blue is one of the most popular backgrounds for highlighting and the easiest for editing. Windows clouds being the most famous I would think
  4. And Great for photo editing as well

  6. Naaaaaaaaaaaa, no a normal pencil surely!!!
  7. Hi and welcome Mac1 is giving away some free birds
  8. The problem is you may get your loft contaminated, and have to do a lot of work to get it clear again. We had to spay everything with avian disenfectant and blow torch as much as we could >
  9. Do you use a blue background for photo editing?
  10. I could see a lot of birds being a threat to a peregrine's nest and it protecting it's territory, but not lapwings :-/
  11. Hi, I managed to find this software that is good for resizing pics to download to the site, this even allows you to use your pivs in you avatars I tried the one tammy suggested but could not get it to work Use this link and download free http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDownload.htm I managed to change all these at once and obviously upload then to site and still keeping origonal picture size on file This is Just half of what you could post Sorry about all the pics just letting you know what is possible
  12. What age do you ring your youngsters? We have done it at 5 days as recommended but have found them coming off them sometimes. And if we wait longer we cannot get the rings on We like to ring the ones in the cotes, they are harder to log dates and times unlike the lofts, we do not always get the 5 days right. I was very surprised to hear you can or some can, ring them up to 17 days if they know what they are doing
  13. Two years ago we lost all our stock in the main loft due to buying one pigeon that had salmonela. The guy denies it to this day despite his lofts being wiped out as well. Learned a hard lesson the hard way, isolate it and the others if you can, if not cull it. We isolate and treat evert bird even from someone we know with good loft management because birds build up different immunities to their surroundings etc
  14. How do you get rings on a 17 day old bird, and what tools would an expert use?
  15. So mabe ours birds don't moult because they are more natural that the ones that are controlled by different means to suit racing programmes Yet saying that the ones in the cotes which are the most natural year in year out, they moulted excessively this year compaired to the last two years
  16. I was always of the belief that they only flew to feed, and that falconers weighed the birds to see if they would fly, if they were too heavy they would just sit about and only flew within a certain wieght range
  17. True but this thread would have died ages ago, plus I tried to keep it on the portal with some sensible posts to drum up more seats. When the banter starts some of us forget where we are and what posts we are on :-/
