Vic, i used to keep canaries and british birds and always found that if you kept seed,oats and wheat for a while however dry,you will get weevils. Buy a box of porridge,open it dont use it for six months, tip it all out and you will be amazed. Bob

Hi all, Re Cider Vinegar, What type is best purchased,eg apple cider vinegar, best type of place to purchase. Might sound a stupid question but i was told there were differant types,some manufactures water down etc. Must say what a great thread though, there was i thinking that i would have to medicate birds every four weeks. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Bob

Hi all I had lots of advise from you guys and girls regarding the late breds i purchased, Heres an update: i purchased some late breds last week, three flyers have seen the birds and although they are well bred they said 8 out of 12 birds have SEVERE frets, being a novice i did not know what these were. Anyway, i have been in contact with the breeder and he said i must be 100% satisfied with the birds, if not he will give me the money back along with the birds. What a great guy! But im still confused, i spoke to a top breeder yesterday who knows these guys very well, he said possibly the birds were treated in the nest and have fretted, he also stated that with the knowledge of the birds and breeders he recommended that i should sit tight, let them moult out and look to the future with the birds. Would you guys and girls breed from these,as the birds are going through the moult and are very healthy. Sorry to go on,just putting the whole picture to you all. Bob

Just to advise,the birds are this years late breds approx July all the tail feathers have fret marks, and all the flights that have not moulted out. Thanks all Bob

Hi all, please give me your opinion/advise, I am a novice in the sport so go gentle with me!!!!! lol lol I purchased 12 birds of a well known flyer about two weeks ago, he stated to me not to let anyone look at the birds for a month as they were moulting,a friend came round yesterday and i asked him a honest opinion, he said he thought they were of very poor quality, he showed me that the birds were full of "fret marks", he said that the birds could have been ill at some time or just showing weekness. A second fancier has since seen the birds and the remarks are the same. Do i now swallow the money spent as a bad purchase/ or phone the fancier up and seek advice/money back/exchange etc. Please tell me what you established flyers would do or expect. If your going to give me a harsh time just remember,"Dont kick a man while he`s down" Thanks i will reply to any B****ckings later,works calling.
