Have been using G10 pellets (with Gemthepax added) and been happy with the condition of the birds. Trying to make a decision whether to change, any advice would be appreciated. The additives in each pellet seem to be beneficial in different ways and cannot decide which side of the fence to jump.

Really tempted for a pair or two of these now, but have resisted due to no room for non flying out stock. I've ordered same way bred for racing 2009. Top quality from a genuine fancier.

Bull eyes are pieds or whites, other coloured eyes, including pearl/violet etc are grizzle.

Try looking at dog water bowls in your local pet shop. Ceramic or glazed drinkers are used so that any additives, particularly iron sulphate are not contaminated.

Try a new battery before even thinking about a service. Also do a 24 hr set, run and check strike times with TIM (speaking clock) dial 123 from a landline. People have been known to mis-read the print out. If you can't do it yourself try and find someone who can before wasting any money on a problem that may not be there.

It has tail bars so can not be red/ash based. Dilutes are always a good subject to keep everyone guessing, maybe someone with show pigeon experience ie; Modenas could cast some light on colour names.

Medcation treatments are best mixed with cooled boiled water. Any impurities in the water that may affect additives have been killed/neutralised.

A good clue for me is when the young birds droppings appear on the edge and around the nest bowl. A sign that they have grown and developed to the right size for ringing.

As I went to call the birds in after exercise yesterday they were ready for their grub. My son took some photos so with his help I have a new avatar. I do get them hand tame with peanuts as young birds but I didnt like the look of the last batch so they havent seen one for over a month.

I have recently lost one or two birds and on checking the site to see if they have been found/lost have had to trawl through lots of posts trying to find their ring numbers. I think it would be a good idea that the ring number of all lost or found birds must be included in the message heading. It would save lots of time for sure.

I use Bamfords Breed and Wean as a base mix and will add Hormoform/linseed 50/50 mix or peanuts or depurative or Bayers whood or G10 pellets depending on what I think they need. I race natural obs and ybs.

What I mean is a more direct hit with water rather than with a stone or pebble thrown by hand.

Today I bought a water pistol to use as a cat deterent. I then had an idea; feral pigeons drop on my loft sometimes and are a problem to make fly away without disturbing my own birds. I have decided to acclimatise my birds to the water pistol being fired so that I can then direct a water jet to unwanted ferals , as well as cats. a kind of ps My Mrs saw a cat coming over the fence and gave it 3 squirts. Lets hope it works

I had one pair last year that laid quickly - checked in my loft book and the hen laid on 14th day after hatching the 1st round, 12 days after on the 2nd round and 11 days after hatching on the 3rd. Also worth pointing out they only had one yb in each nest.
