Hello John where ye been hidin fella????
-
Am no real fussed aboot direction just the flippin frae east tae west in the first 3 YB races that worries me really!
-
Well done Walter, but remember tae make the right decision LOL If the members decide not to wait for SNFC then is the management commitees prog gospel straight off no debate???
-
Just for knowin if I will have anything at that time or I will make donation or maybe even a tele! I have sent you a PM :D
-
Pair up when it suits yer racing plans. If your are a sprint/middle man then get them paired up around xmas and get the young you need then split them a couple weeks before racin and get yer widowhood system sorted. If your distance and natural then leave them into march if you want.
-
Lewis, We canny agree amongst oorselves never mind fed tae fed. Who would want tae race wae us sprinters in the deep south!!!!
-
I would rather wait for the SNFC but if its racin from Belgium then it has to be east for me. Defo miss them hills but know that it means a big jump for you and walter/kenny.Not for the rumoured YB prog of appleby, stainmore, appleby as the switchin aboot is crap. JMO Cheers Steven

Walter mate, we dont see ourselves as a bunch of sprinters!! We merely race our doos to the distance they have tae fly just like everybody else. As i have said if i raced 700miles then i would keep the pigeons to do that! I have every respect for the fliers like yourself that fly up to the north but please dont say that we are lesser men for settin our doos up for the win!. If it requires a 13hr fly tae the south then thats wot we are lookin for. If we race from 350miles then we are not lookin for the Gold cup contenders to be there we are lookin for somethin that we have set up special, thats pigeon racin for me the knoledge to know one from the other must be congratulated and at the end of the day no pigeon has won any big race oot of condition and unfit? Horses for courses again Cheers Dal

Walter distance racin is not easy. Its not easy racin and its even harder tae breed a family. The SNFC caters for all,IMO, If you dont want to race the inland nats then dont. If you dont want to give the winner credit then dont. I think if you keep yer doos in a way that lends itself to 350miles racin then fair play and if you set yer doo up better than the rest then thats magic. If i want tae by young frae a middle distance racer with good results then I will the same if I wanted distance doos. The main bother in yer statments from my point of view is this Oslo stuff. I have put a bit of thought into this and can only conclude that its suicide!!. You say that there has been nae probs frae Ypres but in my mind and on the map there is a huge difference between Ypres and Oslo.JMO

Looks like the SNFC canny win!! They have races inland that many fanciers enjoy, including myself tho not very successful, and they create revenue. They also have channel races for the distance fancier. The only debate seems to be wot direction we fly. The swing to east from the belgian border race points is the way at the moment but if you want to change that put a point in at the AGM and state yer case. Simples.

Hawk and falcon fodder doon here wae an open hole!
-
No I understood IB and have nae probs wae the distance but reims is not wot I really want in terms of direction favouring more central like laferte Bernard, Lemans. I feel this is the middle ground between the rennes, sartilly route and the East one. My comment on the inland nats was not a reply to your post and just an opinion that a lot of fanciers keep and train there birds for the 350-450 mile races. This is their prerogative and I feel they are sometimes made to feel inferior compared to a 500-600 mile racers.JMO Sorry for any confusion
-
You only need tae gan tae Bourges tae get 600miles in the south
-
STuck my vote in. No often you get summit back frae the bank!
-
No gan tae be much in it but depends on wind strength. The flight tae Glasgow is going tae be hard intoi the head wind but the east doos have tae keep frae fallin in the North Sea!!!
-
You can still gan 600+ miles without heading into Belgium IB?. Today there are a lot of fanciers that like the inland nats and are members of the SNFC and should be catered for. Lets not get hung up on thinkin that if your birds are not made for, or you have not set them up for, 600+miles that these pigeons are in some way inferior to others. Its horses for courses for me!!
-
Ye that'll get some revved up Mike!! Have had this discussion many times and it turns oot that we have different type of birds doon here!! We still win at the distance just not enough distance
-
R u no 3m tall anyway Gareth or is that photo trickery?
-
No roosting place for tired birds must be a a big worry. When birds are tired or facing a head wind then they get low to the terrain. Non constant wave size may catch them out!
-
Bugger!! Too much water for me I think. Would the prevailing wind be a prob? How would the convoy fair on that trip across?
-
So the poor turnout for the longest race would be rectified?

Got loads of memorys. One of the first was seeing the 1st sect Exeter 1983 at aged 11. Had seen plenty of 1st prize winners at club but that was the first national prize winner that I can remember seeing LIVE!!. Seeing my dads face clocking 2 in 2 seconds from 501 miles and then another on the nite La Ferte Bernard gold cup. Seeing a nat winner wing its way home and just the very envolvement in this magic sport frae 50miles tae 500+miles
