A guy near me flies Frans laeremans and wins with them up to 400 miles...though with the greatest respect to the rest of us....this guy is such a genius with his birds he could win flying an house sparrow.

This not a distasteful subject......Its just a tiny part of the sport......Im a fly or die fancier......I work hard for a living and to give my birds the best I can afford.....and I cant afford to keep birds that dont pay theyre way....simple as that ! Have we turned into a sport full of ostriches then guys?????

Ive given this alot of thought lately and I dont believe that stopping the birds racing will achieve anything whatsoever to stop the spread of birdflu...However it would show all concerned that we pigeon fanciers are prepared to do the honorable thing if we didnt race,after all in this society we live in the most important thing seems to be"appearing to do the right thing" not "doing the right thing" !!!!????

I use garden lime for the floor of my loft after ive cleaned the olduns out....keeps everything nice and fresh for them and doesnt burn your lungs out like hydrated lime!

You will get a better idea of wether its working next autumn when the weather is turning most joint problems ease off when the weather improves like it is doing at the moment. Also its wise to remember that some other medications can flare these sort of joint problems up...like the birth control pill for example.

I keep my youngsters on deep litter and I would say I havent noticed much difference in their health to what it was when I used to scrape them out everyday.....The only reason I put them on deep litter(3 inches woodchippings with a layer of straw on top) is that they seem to feel cosy and more content than on a bare floor.

I think its down to wether the birds are wet feeders. Never heard of this being related to canker.....if thats the case I,d better get some of mine treated agen!
