Firstly you need to find out what is wrong with the birds,you could do with a local fanciers help in this if possible,don't waste time at a vets unless they are genuinely familiar with pigeons.Secondly you need to decide if you want to keep the birds or take them back but either way you want your money back,you are 5 birds down and the whole escapade is costing you time,money and not to mention distress.Whatever you decide the loft will need thoroughly disinfecting with something like virkon s or blow torching and dont even think about getting any new birds in until you are totally clear of this infection,good luck.

Great pics as would be expected from peter.I had a couple of my birds done by him about 6 or 7 years ago and it was £15 per pic then but well worth it,I framed them and they were still up on the wall up to us moving house recently.

How sad are we folks looking at pictures of droppings on a saturday night,must be going wrong somewhere ;D Seriously though protein either in the form of layers pellets or beans do produce good droppings as in the pictures,we feed both and our birds droppings look the same The only time our birds droppings are loose or abit green has been after they have endured some sort of stress ie after a show or something which is why we give pro biotics whenever the birds are under stress The worst feed stuff I have found for bad droppings has been over doing the maize but I think if you feed alot of beans the droppings are always great

They were bred for fighting and like any dog can be dangerous in the wrong hands but I think catchthepigeon is being very responsible in finding the right home and she looks gorgeous

Absolutely terrible,I remember the same thing happened to Andy Lowe with his fancy pigeons,and more than once I think,they knew he would be at a show so the oportunity was there.I know the fancy birds are often stolen for export to places like Pakistan where there is high demand,but I don't know if show racers have the same foreign appeal. It is not nice to think that fellow fanciers would steal your birds but at about 1 in 3 shows we attend a bird goes missing,infact one of ours went missing at Lancashire Champs show but whoever had taken it obviously panicked when they couldnt get out as it turned up 2 isles away in someone elses pen,we are going to use cable ties in future on all our pens. I dont know how anyone could take pride and credit at shows for birds that they not only havent bred themselves but have got through ill gotten gains.We both really hope that Jimmy can gain some strength from the support on this site and the fact that we are all thinking of him at what must be a very upsetting time Clarke and Garvie

I only ever bought 1 bird from Blackpool and it was a good few years ago now,it was sunday afternoon and so it was reduced in price and it just caught my eye as I walked past,handled it and it seemed fine,bought it,got it home and a load of red "THINGS" ran up my arm,I had never seen anything like it before or since thankfully,it had looked ok at the show.I think the heat at the show had probably made them breed more but the lights had kept them hidden as they like dark,couple of hours in a dark amtrak box and they were quite a surprise when I opened the box!,in propper daylight it became obvious that practically every feather was pin holed and being january just after the moulting season it meant the bird was no use for showing for nearly a year,it also had to live in the isolation shed for ages and I had to get changed everytime i wanted to go to the loft,it just really wasnt worth the hassle,never again!!.That stand is still there every year without fail and all I will say is their english is about as good as their birds!!

Best bargains were 2 loft coats for a tenner and basket drinkers £1 each,1 or 2 good vaccine offers,we got the one with free ivomec with it

No idea,You wont know whats for sale till you get there,you just book the sale pens,no one actually logs what you are going to put in them,they do keep refilling them though so probably worth asking at the stand if you dont see what you are looking for straight away but if you ask around someone is bound to know a breeder of what you want and put you in touch

Well after yet another burst pipe tonight we are still almost ready,Tam's just finnishing the housework now and we even got the snow plough up today after 4 weeks it finally turned up,must have known we were going to Blackpool tomorrow ;D

They are easy to miss as the entrance to the spannish hall is well concealed but it should be well sign posted this year and is definately a real eye opener for anyone who has never seen fancy pigeons before,there will be birds for sale too

Well got the car out 3 days in the last month,had great entertainment today watching a fed ex van seriously think he could get past our gate,if it was so easy why does he think the rest of us have not moved for nearly a month!!,we spent 3 hours walking to tescos and back yet again today,but by hook or by crook we will be there at weekend!!

The above basically covers it,look at what you think your birds are short of,ie what you don't have,there is no point in buying birds exactly like your own,you are looking for something to improve your birds,not duplicate your birds,also look for health and always isolate any new birds for a minimum of 2 weeks just to be safe

I think yb's should have access to as much as they can eat in the early days [ie except just before they go out flying or they won't come back in!!],high protein to build muscle is best so I would feed about 75% beans,25% general good quality mix along side a good vitamin supplement like homoform.
