    LOSSES ?

with the look of this week end forcast think il miss this week not wanting birds spending nights in basket to be then brought back home, funny this i logged on using new name and got my old name i use to use year a go lol.
  2. george helped him few years back but not sure if he does now think most of his help comes from kenny's wife.

  4. well you are giving to much of it, to have them marked like that, it has ruined more lofts than any other suplement i no of
  5. Up untill this year used chlocarb as it was best i had used, but this year used easytox from pigeon pharmacy and it worked a treat, so no more dipping for me.
  6. I take it is the circle of adaptation we are talking about then is that right rose.
  7. Once the time comes round bruno i sure you will be able to calculate what will be best for you. It would be ok if we were sure that the race was going to be a fair fly, but we cant there that much can go wrong, that is why it best to have few weeks between last set up race and desired race.
  8. Thats the diference for myself and jimmy compared to rose, were rose can have a few races to choose from we have probly 1. Two at the most, the way the racing is now it can be big chance giving your birds the race it needs to close to its desired race, Have been saying for ages we in scotland are 5 year behind rest of U.K and they are 5 year behind the continent, but the rest of the uk are at least catching up. My last race for them use leicster 250 mile , then they would have 3 weeks to the gold cup race, and depending on the bird it would have maybe 200 mile training in between, use no bigger than 40 to 50 mile tosses, some may be 25m but i use dont go over 50m, that was way use to do it, but now we have midweek club can get maybe 2 dunbars that about 70 mile, then couple of 25 to 35 mile tosses. That is one of the reasons i hope we dont go to maidstone as lot of people use that race for gold cup. And to me it to dangerous a race to be so near gold cup race, to be used as set up race,
  9. That be the circle of adaptation silv you talking about, the black or grey circle.
  10. Lot depends on the bird itself, some need lot of road work some very little. Up here in west of scotland some people are giving the birds more races than useally because of the hawk problem, that way they dont need as much training, but percentage wise, own way is afer they finished there rearing i start training, paired up between 20th feb and 10th march, first race use 112 to 130 mile then i give 3 to four races in a row, miss week or two then like them to have race were they have 8 hours on the wing use 250 t0 320 mile race,.
  11. What is this reputation thing you all talking about, as dont understand it.
  12. Just read the managment recomadations for races 2006, only 1 i have problem with is maidstone, think it could just be to early for 370 mile in to our area, as we prob only had race of 170 mile by then and if you look at the results you will see very few yearlings on the west sec results most years, i think it risks the birdage not only for that race but also for rest of the races, others well may have had good races from maidstone, but i cant remember any, they use big losses from that race. Keep it at the distance we have just now, my main guess is some are thinking it gives others advantage the way it is just now and that advantage is not them, please think before you vote on this one. And no this should not be in the politics page this is a racing matter nothing else
  13. HIms, you rite we all assume it y/b sickness wen it well may be something else, lot of the symptoms are the same, other thing we all logg it under y/b sickness have read about circa virus it deadly,
  14. I agree to a certain lengh with jimmy, it is how they prepared that counts a lot, but some famlies are out and out sprinters, you may get one in a thousand score at distance were distance families would be say 20 in a thousand score.
  15. Thanks silv and pigeon man glad someone new what i was trying to say, right enough even i dont no sometimes so u are excused carl lol
  16. Can see were rose coming from, if it out of that winner and winner from channel just does not meen 1st prizewinner but bird that has scored at nat or fed or combine level, why say direct son or dtr just say it son or dtr, dont no any other way either.

    Peanuts

Have used peanunts in the past used to chope them in blender mix them with groats and gave to the birds wen on there return from there night toss about nine to half nine they loved them. But only the ones for human consumption.
  18. Read what i said carl, i not try to bring them or ashley down, ijust called it as i said it. I bred birds to win 4 or 5 times in nat racing they have bred sec winners in nat racing does not meen to say that if you get birds from me they will win for you. It is a hard hard game.
  19. The janssens were sprinters as they were the only races they took part in. They did send once to long distance race and scored well, but the fear of losing there good birds from the distance put them of racing at that distance.
  20. Pairing them together will lead to all pearl eyes, as they cant throw anything else, remeber reading loft profile on leishmen bros of douglas water, he was asked if he would pair pearl to pearl, his reply was i have no choice as they are all pearl eyed birds. And they were legends in these parts lanarkshire. So did not do them any harm, jannsens will fly 500 mile as jimmy said they were founded on long distance blood, better with a cross right enough the dutch famous for this. Another trait with them dont no if your birds have it , is they have red to pinky eye ceres.
  21. In y/b specalist book from nigel cowood he uses rock salt it going to be next big thing non refined.
  22. Be carefull wen using cod liver oil, it can be very dangoures, remember reading good article on it few years ago think it was in scotlands own, and it was ace fancier he ruined his entire cock race team, with over doing it with cod liver oil. it very dangerous to the kidney and the liver.
  23. M& d evans are like the most of sellers of birds they keep a good pigeon but like all others they will sell birds that are not any good at racing or breeding, that does not make them con men it just the way things are with any performance animal, they have been some big wins with there stock just as they are plenty people selling them on every week, in the papers. that have proven to be no good. The now there are about 3 stud sires in the horse world that are breeding nearly all the big classic winners, so that tells us that there been plenty big classic winners breeding nothing, just like pigeons, it so hard to get that rear animal the foundation hen or cock, so wen you get them treasure them cause chance is you not get another.
  24. Maybe that is why there so many losses with birds old and young ex wen tough race, look at the distance men the extreme distance men at that, most feed beans at different % some feed 100% and there probaly got the best returns of anybody wen it comes to the sticky races exp, They go on about lacking in this vitamin and that mineral, but way back wen that was not herd of, they flew well with beans, my father was 100 % bean man wen rearing and racing, and you would be hard pushed to see better reared y/bs. He fed 100% barly in the 2 months before pairing then 100% beans then on, his last year of looking after them, he won 6sts and scored out of rennens 540 mile had 7 out of 10 from sartilly 500 m wen most of the club either had 1 or not timed in. Some times ignorance or lack of so called knollage is no bad thing.
  25. Here here fax, there things going on and this is one way of keeping it from the pigeon public censorship, the pigeon politcs board should now be withdrawn from this site as it is not to be used unless the subject is to some peoples liking, richard not included in this statement. As i said in earlier post you dont need read it if you not interested. As long as you not insulting any person you should be allowed to post message. There is a lot on here that is either for children, or the brain dead, neither i read, but there people who want to read them, so i just by pass them and let those who wish to read and post answers to them do it in peace. And i not knocking the site as i think it a good one at that.
