  1. "Happy Birthday" Shadow. Sorry I'm a little late, but you guy's are 5 hours ahead of us over here in North America. All the best in the coming year!!!!!! Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  2. Thank's to everyone, I just got home from seeing some friends and this surprised me to find this on the Internet. "MADE MY DAY" Thank You --- One & all, & God Bless you all! Yours in the Sport _ Bill.
  3. That's progress for you, and in the same respect it is no differant than when we went from having to use "Capsules" to the new drums on our clock's, where you did not have to use them (capsules). Were you penalized then? Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  4. Fife-King,,,, If I may answer this, when you get your print out from the clock the bird's will be separated in "Decimals". Very small decimals infact. In 6 years of using the E.T.'s (Tipes) over here in Canada I have yet to see 2 bird's clocked on exactly the same decimal point. And when the bird's are so close, the computer gives you the bird that had the advantage first, in decimals. I have had the mis-fortune though of having 2 bird's go through the trap (same stall) only to find that only 1 bird was clocked. It happened so fast that it is always a priority to check the clock after the bird's trap. Hope this helps. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  5. Hope you all have a very "MERRY CHRISTMAS" and a Happy & Prosperous New Year. To all my freinds,,,,,,Best Wishes,,,, from Canada. Yours in the Sport - Bill & family.
  6. Speight, back in 1998 we received 4 young birds from a good freind over here in Canada (Tony Pasterko) and these were bred down out of Hession Van Reets. Well that year my partner and I went on to win 1st.&2nd. at our Yong bird Derby with 2 of these young birds direct out of Bert's Van Reets (progeny of the Danial). One of those days when there was not a cloud in the sky and all we seen was 2 dot's way up in the air and very high too. Dropped like bombs, over 1300 mpm. These birds were consistent for us in any type of weather, always there. To win our young bird Derby, which was the classiest race of the year you had to have great pigeons and at the time,,,,,,Bert's were the best here. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  7. Speight, There is a good article on this site about Apple Cider Vinegar. Good reading. http://www.pipay.be/artikelsnew/talaber/apple.htm Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  8. Congratulations Ross, now don't keep us in suspense. What is it bred off,,,,,,,,What has it done? Yours in the Sport - Bill.

  10. Ms.Pigeon, I found a web-site you might check out concerning Diatomaceous Earth. Don't forget they are trying to sell this product, so all you get is the benefits. Nothing is said about the faults. This product can be "Deadly", especially in anyone's garden, or even down the drain. It cuts up the bugs pretty good. Where does it end up and what effect does it have when it gets there? And you certainly don't want to breathe it in!!!! Imagine if you will,,,,,walking on glass shards what it would do to you, so imagine what happens when it gets into a body??????? Your Lungs,Stomach etc. http://www.bio-ag.com/products/feedsupplements/diatomaceous.html P.S.....Handle with care. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  11. MsPigeon,,,,,please don't be in such a rush to use "Diatomaceous Earth". I have been trying to find the info concerning this product all day because there is some problems with it when not administered properly. When I do find it I will post. In the mean time, if Dr.Gord Chalmers look's in he may enlighten us to what the problems may be. It was discussed extensivley on another site but I am unable to find it (yet). You must be very careful using it!!!! Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  12. Happy Birthday Speckled, and many more to come. I also will raise a glass (or 2) just for you,,,,,,Enjoy. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  13. Beautiful set-up and exceptional birds. You should be proud. Very impressive. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  14. Carl, I have seen in certain years some familys(lines)do not even pay attention to the fact they are on the darkness. They just continue to moult out their flights as if they were given normal daylight. So I'm assuming it could be a family trait? I'm sure other people on here have noticed this too. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  15. Shadow, I'm just curious. When you say single up from 50 miles, is that a toss where the bird goes by itself? I don't know as I'm on a differant continent and you may say it differantly than we do over here. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  16. Trying for over 4 hours today, just get the blank screen?????? Hope we can get it fixed. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  17. Glad to help Tony, Have you ever been on the "Chat" line? Try it. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  18. Bruno, we must commend you for the summary. I sincerly Thank You, and I thought I was on top of this,,,boy was I wrong! Keep up the good work. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  19. Tony, here is a site that will show/help you answer your questions. Very informative, even shows slides of what droppings look like. Don't forget to save it in your favorites. http://www.chevita.com/tauben/e-index3.html Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  20. Sometimes it is as simple as allowing wild bird's ie: sparrows/Starlings into your loft, or at one time or another you let a sick stray in? It really isn't that often you find out exactly where it came from, but don't dwell on that at the moment. Find someone who can actually see what is going on. Have no fear, you'll get out of this predicament, and you find the next learning curve in the pigeon game. Again.....Lot's of Luck. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  21. I'm sure you have the products over there, such as Baytril,Enroxil or even Enroflaxin. But I would advise you to get help from some one who know's what to look for. No one can say for certain what you have without seeing it first hand. You have to be careful when you administer products like these (or any other). Wish you luck, and hope you caught it in time before any damaged is done. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  22. Quickly get it out off the loft. Sounds like a bad case of Paramyxovirus or even Salmonellosis. That's deadly, and probably to far gone. If there are any other birds where it was I'd get them all treated A.S.A.P. And lastly tell whom ever you got the bird from about the problem before it spreads any further. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  23. Speedbird is this what your looking for. This is from Canada. Messages Gord Chalmers Veterinarian Gender: Male Location: Lethbridge, Alberta Registered: Feb 2003 Status: Offline Posts: 217 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted Thursday, August 4, 2005 @ 02:28 PM Folks: In the past there have been some unfounded public concerns about the role of pigeons in Avian Influenza. Most of the facts showing that pigeons are not involved in the spread of this disease have been presented earlier in an article in several pigeon magazines. However concerns about the role of pigeons re-surfaced this past year after Thai newspapers reported that a number of children in one school were affected with Influenza and that about 400 nearby pigeons either died of Influenza or were killed (facts on these points are still elusive). To clarify this situation, as recently as July '05 I have been in contact with Dr David Swayne, Laboratory Director, Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, USDA/ARS, Athens, Georgia, USA. He has worked with the virus from Thailand and has provided the following important information, quote: "Dr. Erhardt Kaleta (Germany) recently published a review of Avian Influenza (AI) in pigeons and concluded, as I also believe, that pigeons are resistant to avian influenza viruses and have not been a reservoir or vector of the virus. Other studies have supported the resistance of pigeons to AI virus infections. Some people have confused die-offs in pigeons to avian influenza when paramyxovirus type 1 is a common cause of neurological disease and death in pigeons, and not avian influenza. We have conducted experimental studies in pigeons using viruses isolated from dead pigeons in Thailand. Even direct inoculation of these viruses into nasal cavity of pigeons caused limited infections with between 60-80% of the pigeons not becoming infected. This suggests the mortality from H5N1 Highly Pathogenic AI virus in pigeons may have resulted from synergy (meaning a combined effect) between AI infection and some other pathogen. The "illness in school children" is an unsubstantiated rumor. No AI virus was isolated from the children and I am unaware of any evidence of infection. With this scientific information, it is unlikely that banning pigeons will have any impact on AI ecology and will not reduce the risk AI infections of poultry or humans. The primary species that have natural infections with AI viruses are wild ducks and shorebirds (turnstones, gulls, etc.). Columbiformes (pigeons) and passerines (generally, songbirds) are not reservoirs and they are rarely incidental hosts following spill-over of the viruses from infected domestic poultry." Unquote.
  24. Bruno, excellant response to the article. Please do not be alarmed....be informed!!!!!!!! As like you say that was a differant enviornment and today with the currently available antiviral drugs they should be able to prevent another world-wide outbreak from happening. Atleast that is what they are saying every day when I check up on what's new. There is always something reported every day, but mostly they are just repeating what has already been said. I do hope that is a good sign. Yours in the Sport - Bill.
  25. The site I use most is below, just key in to the search, whatever grain you want to see and up pop's both picture(s) and history.....Check it out. http://www.foodsubs.com/GrainCorn.html Yours in the Sport - Bill.
