    Ventilation

My God and old topic of mine come back to haunt LOL LOL - I still dont feel I have the loft Ventilation right LOL - Although Ive managed to keep the humidity at near enough 65% for ages now even when its 90% outside.
  8. Same as most, had a few bad YB training spins, but ended up with good birds from them generally. One thing I learnt from training YBs is to never take them on a afternoon (after 6pm) until they had been trained well. All it takes is a batch to take them 50miles or so north and they have no chance of returning like they would if they had been trained earlier in the day!! 530-6am is the best I think. My worst experience was losing a pigeon that had won our longest channel race in 2002, and in 2003 he was lost from a 30mile training toss (obviously hawked). + also lost his son from the same training point a few weeks later :'(
  9. Yeh, I put it on full power for 15 - 20 seconds
  10. People have prob guessed im a fan of peanuts as well (for the birds i mean). Ive started my weaned YBs on them. They need to be cut into quarters for the YBs as they struggle to pick them up at first. And they need putting in the micorwave for 15-20 seconds to kill off any fungi
  11. I know someone who uses milton quite a lot and one of his keeled over last week!! Mind he doesnt measure it out properly and prob overdosed the poor thing! Ive used it in the past, but prefer Cider vinegar, and probiotics ;D
  12. The hen that wouldnt lay for me - still hasnt!!!
  13. LOL - Your probably right there ;D ;D, ill have to see if they could move it a little closer to the town!! Maltby near Yarm would be perfect
  14. Cheers redcheq, what combine do they fly in, is it the GYA?? My auntie and uncle have a house there with a big garden and coverted barn that would be perfect as a pigeon loft. They only use it a few times a year, so I was thinking of a move ;D Getting a bit sick of town life lol
  15. Does anyone know if there are any pigeon clubs in Kirbymoorside - North Yorks?
  16. Sunny + Blue clouds @ Teesside - very cold like! Heating on in loft and birds love it ;D
  17. I also have 2 cats, but they are house cats that are permanently locked in the conservatory. I recently purchased a cat deterant to keep any local cats away from the birds. I tested it on my cats and they didnt even flinch!!!!
  18. There was something on about them on GrandDesigns I think, you can only fit them with Planning approval from the local council and houses in built up areas with little wind cant use them (for obvious reasons) and solar panels are their alternative. I think a lot of houses will have them pretty soon and they will be a new problem for the pigeons to contend with, especially in head winds, when they skim the roof tops. Mine quite often hit the odd TV arial near my house, so they would be decimated if people started putting wind turbines up!!
  19. Yep, sound good to me Craig . When did you pair them up to be on round 3 already LOL, mine are just on round 1!! Just PM'd you! Cheers Steve
  20. Im keeping my fingers crossed for ETS next year, as it would be great to see what order the've come home, even of training etc. Will you be getting it, if it comes into play next year??
  21. They will soon get used to going in the right box - just takes time
  22. http://www.chevita.com/tauben/e-index3.html This should help
  23. Agree 100%, if I still have a bird at 3 year old, they have had to have raced a few hard channel races, so if there good enough they will still be in the loft. I dont care if they are a strain that are supposed to be sprinters etc, my new system is to not over-race them as YBs, but get them to a minimum of 400miles as yearlings and then anywhere as 2 year olds. Not many birds will take this, but I feel you end up with only good pigeons, this way. Im not a massive fan of sprint races, but if I was I would expect a few decent results out of them by the time they had reached the 2 year old stage. Its because Im not a fan of culling that I dont like sprint races ;D
  24. Just looked on the Vita-king website and it $15 for 150 grammes which works out at 20 teaspoons worth, and you need to use 1 teaspoon each time you use it. Its not going to last long?? Ive just got a similar thing (Probiotic) from Aviform that will last much longer and it only cost £8
  25. Looks great - well worth the wait. I like how high you have it off the ground aswell
