Your neigbours just being funny cause your new i dont see the problem why people moan aslong as you keep the lofts clean and tidy Debbie wants us to start up doing it but next door to us have 3 cats they a pain in the *expletive removed* i dont like cats as it is there more cat paws on our vehicle's than there is anywhere but they wont go in the garden as the dogs are in there most of the day ;D ;D ;D

Why do people think that the couriers are charging too much ??? Nobody has said why they are ???
-
Well said THANK YOU someone who knows what i am trying to say. ;D ;D If anyone thinks they can do it then pm me i will hire my vans out to you ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
-
;D ;D ;D Ok so tell me if it wasnt for couriers the stray birds or the birds you buy how would you get them from where you have bought them from to your home or loft ??? Alan we never charged you anymore than £25.00 i dont know how much the couriers are charging at the moment but i am going to defend them as we have done it for £25.00 and like i said its impossible mate so even at £40.00 i think is reasonable but still cheap if its coming from the other side of the country mate.
-
Alan whats shifting concrete got to do with with couring pigeons around the country ?????
-
People getting married up here ???? Dont hear much of that ;D ;D

Ok for you anytime mate i will pm you

What you mean ???
-
;D ;D ;D Ok chill im just saying mate its not easy how many vans do you think small couriers can afford to run ?? Remember like i said we had 3 before xmas and we were struggling and we were flat really busy. I dont want to argue or fall out with anyone im just saying what i think mate
-
Ok but then you got to make 2 trips to everywhere in the country and then what about the collections from Scotland coming back to South Wales ?
-
We were talking of joining up with one and we had spoke to him he was a really nice fella but as you know we had problems at home after Xmas so this never happened. When we first started Pigeon Tracker contacted us and fair play to him he was willing to join up with us but that never happened either. I myself contacted JM Couriers when they first started and we spoke again they were really nice and freindly and they were interested but once again it didnt happen. I enjoyed it but it did get too much someone needs to join together or as Numpty said it will just keep failing and there will be people coming on advertising and thinking its easy money to make. If you had say the best 2 couriers getting together then you could make a really good 1 service i wanted to do that and i would like to have but the only thing stopping us was the money like i said the other day we put everything we had into it when we started and we never made it back so if anyone was thinking of it think carefully as you would need to put money and alot of time and effort into this but if you do it right then it could work deffinetly.
-
The couriers could make money mate but like i said they will have to link up atleast 2 of them as you cant drive, take orders and do your paperwork at the same time i was doing it with a mobile phone and a laptop in my van when i tried to do it myself and its was hard infact it cant be done mate. If two couriers got together and put there ideas across and agreed on the best way to do the job i think it would work and like you say they would make money and cover everything they needed to.
-
Ok say you were in South Wales on Monday and had a collection from there going to Aberdeen but you wernt there till Friday then what ?
-
But what i am saying mate is there isnt enough work form one place to collect. We were collecting in say South Wales and we might not have another order for there so we would have to send the van 100's of miles to either drop off or collect see what people dont realise is Amtrax dont just do pigeons they do all kinds they had contracts with big companys dispatching there goods too so thats how they made there money. When i worked for Parcel Force and Fed Ex i had to be at a certain business to collect there items for a certain time and it wasnt just one my van was always full of stuff to be delivered the next day so there hubs are always full of items to be delivered allday everyday.
-
Ok so you got 4 couriers so split £30 or whatever they are charging between 4 ?? It wouldnt be possible unless you only done certain runs on certain days of the week but then you would have to hold pigeons for how many days/nights.
-
I think if atleast 2 of the couriers got together and stayed strong and got through the starting process not making any money until they were well known then had most of the work available yes you could make a good little business we tried to join with a few and we had others trying to join with us but we were covering it just about with what we had. What happened to me in May was my own fault i was doing it on my own i was in Kent say at 18:00 one day and in Aberdeen at 16:00 the next yes i was making a little bit for myself but i was driving over 20 hours aday everyday and when i work it out i was paying myself around £1.50 a hour i would probably get more for delivering papers but i was doing it and i thought if i did it long enough and people knew i was doing a good job then i would make money but you cant do it on your own its impossible trust me i have proved that to myself
-
Like i said didnt want to cause a argument but everything you just said is correct and as you know its not just abuse or travelling 100;s of miles to find out its a false address or a empty house then it goes further punctured tyre's vans being damaged on your own property etc etc but the question wasnt about that that it was about the price and for what you get paid for doing the job no its not worth it so i dont know how people can say couriers are charging too much we use to charge £25.00 from anywhere in the country to anywhere in the country and we got told everyday we were to deer if you can find anyone who will drive from Kent to Aberdeen for that then good luck to you the only people who will do this is Royal Mail but could you fit a pigeon in a box in a postbox ???
-
Hi I have not come on to start a argument but shortie you are wrong mate we did it for 7 months as you all know and we never made a penny infact we ended up using alot of our own money Numpty is right it ruins your family life as you never see them sleeping in your van wherever you might get time to stop you could be anywhere in the country and you would be lucky to get 4/5 hours sleep a night. Strapper i dont think all couriers are in it to make money but you are right in a sense maybe they think its a easy way to but believe me its not. I have said it before good luck to them all i have been in the courier game for 10 years and worked for the main couriers and i personally think that you guys need one of them that was as big as Amtrax to do it as they ship everything from every part of the country overnight and they make it look easy but look at the amount of vehicles involved. The only other way is for all couriers to link up but again they would make less money as it would then have to be split between them. As Pigeonforce have said people think its just diesel they pay for thats just a minor thing a courier has to pay for like they said what about everything else. We use to do around 8 drops to Scotland each trip and how ever many collections but again like Pigeonforce has said they were being collected from Kent, Cornwall etc and the one's being collected were going back to wherever in the country. When we had 3 vans before xmas each van was doing atleast 700/800 mile aday and costing us around £110 aday diesel then wages, insurance plus then our vans were hired at £200 a week each. Work it out 700/800 mile aday is over 18 hours aday driving so thats 18 hours aday wages and over £100 diesel already plus accessories as already mentioned. Sorry but it very very hard to cover the cost of all this so no they are not making as much money as everyone thinks they are.

FLYIN COURIERS09 WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
flyin.couriers09 replied to flyin.couriers09's topic in Notice Board
Hi Bob As i said earlier i was told everyday but carried on and i admit it was hard as i was trying to do it on my own and to cover the whole country is impossible as it proved that in the end. I am going to take up people's advice like i say we are going to spend some time together and then decide what to do as we still have 2 of our vans left. We will see in time what is meant to be. I know what you mean Debbie's freind owns a taxi firm up here he has school contracts so he doesnt have to work as much as most taxi drivers i have looked into doing it myself a few years ago when i took my redundency from Parcel Force but i got another job with Fed Ex. If you ever do think of doing it good luck to you mate. Wayne -
