  1. ok that has put me off buying from them! not having much luck here after being put off louella earlier! lol
  2. Can anyone confirm are the international breeding station and the natural breeding station different or the same?
  3. does the natural breeding station have a contact number or website at all?
  4. Has anyone tried the birds from here and what are they like. I was going to purchase 20 from Louella but after reading the previous articles think I will give that a miss for now! Can anyone recommend 20 from elsewhere failing an answer to the natual breeding station?
  5. No nothing at all. But they definitely appear to be pecking constantly as if being irritated by something.
  6. A few of my pigeons have sections of the flight missing. Its looks as if something has been nibbling away at the flights. Also the birds are forever trying to peck the top of the throat and breast area although the feathers look ok. I have sprayed the birds with spray but doesnt seemed to have cured the problem. Any suggestions if this could be some type of lice? Also now and again the birds jump as if something is irritating there feet. I have looked and cant seen anything on any of the birds. They did have some lice which were visable but the spray seems to have cleared this type. Any advice on how to treat the birds would be most welcome.
  7. Hello all, my first breeding season is going ok I guess. But I have one youngster than has been weaned off for about 10 days. He just doesnt look the part, he is not flying much and generally looks quite lethargic and uninterested. When you approach him though he pulls his feathers in and in the hand looks a really nice bird. I tried to look inside his mouth but noticed his bottom part of the beak was quite soft and therefore unable to open the beak as the bottom kept almost bending when attempting to do so. Should this be like this and what is causing it. Is there anything wrong with this bird from the information I have provided. I also have a a few young birds who seem to be having trouble swallowing the corn and it seems to be passing over the hole in the back of the mouth and going into the cavity at the back of the throat? They appear to be trying to push it back out, the yellow food (I think its maize) Again is this normal?
  8. I let my birds out and they just show no enthusiasm to fly at all. They will fly straight onto the house roof and they will fly directly on the loft and the trap when called back in. But in between they dont seem interested to fly at all. I have weaned them off 2 weeks ago and thought they might have taken a few short spins by now? I leave them out for an hour or so but they just seem content to sit on the roof. Any ideas to get them flying or am I being impatient? If I am expecting to much to soon, is it wise to leave them sat on the house roof in gutters?
  9. what would be fed after the breed and wean then?
  10. I would like to know what the youngsters after being weaned require for food. At present I still feeding the breed and wean they were fed in the nest. Should a new mix now be started? And secondly what amount of food should I be feeding the weaned off youngsters? I am just putting in a varied amount each day at present and by the next the feed has all gone - but then the youngsters are not really interested when trying to learn to trap. I have been feeding just once a day about 5 o clock, after letting the birds out first. Any advice welcome.
  11. Its my stock birds that are doing it! Should I try to get the weight off while there feeding youngsters (I am just leaving the food hopper in the loft all day for them to eat what they want which is breed and wean and No.1 Mix or just leave things be?
  12. seen the open mouth before, but not heard the machine gun sound. you can hear it at the other end of the garden if its quiet outside the loft.
  13. They only seem to do it on warm days.
  14. I am new to the sport, and would like to know what is causing my pigeons to gargle with there beaks open? The noise they make is quite loud and very distinct, like a machine gun. I read the bird is just trying to cool himself down but is this normal?
  15. I decided to treat with the Aueromycin afterwards. I put 3 heaped teaspoons into 4 litres of water. The birds have been having it now for 5 days. The difference is incredible. The birds are bouncing! They are full of life compared to 5 days ago when they were lethagic and uninterested and panting. I was a little concerned with treating given that I had youngsters in the nest, but they are fine. I am going to continue treating for a further 8 days, so that will be 14 days in total.
  16. When I research Ornithosis it recommends 30-60 days treatment. But when I research the Aureomycin product it recommends 7 days with 1 teaspoon per gallon or 7 days with 3 teaspoons per gallon! Crazy!!!!!
  17. I have Ornithosis in my pigeons and have obtained some Aureomycin Soluble Powder to treat them. I have read conflicting reports of dosage and length of time for treatment. I have read in some reports treatment should be 1 teaspoon / per gallon for 7 days. Another stating 3 teaspoon per / gallon for 7-14 days and then another stating they should be treated with the Aureomycin for 30-60 days but with no dosage details? I am confused to what dosage to give them. The vet I obtained it from didnt really know the dosage and just put as directed on the tub of product.
