    I've replaced both ends of the cable, so that should no longer be a source of any downtime. And as such the only time the WRPD and the services we offer will go offline is when my ISP forces an ip change or if there are power outages here lasting more than an hour. With one exception, that being a few minutes downtime at some point in the next few weeks while I install some new hardware to the server.

     

    I would like to thank everyone for being patient while the bugs have been worked out of the system. I'm sur ethe interuptions have been frustrating, but this is after all my first attempt to operate most of these services. ;)

     

    Anyway enjoy the room folks :)

    Yes and No, Chatrace,

     

    It's up and running fine http://worldpigeon.com/index.php?ind=chat

     

    I had to reboot my router again in order for the port forward settings to take affect for the new email service we are soon to be offering from World Racing Pigeon Discussions.

     

    That said the chatroom will not be accessable from this site until I can speak to Richard and give him the info he needs. Until then I have enabled guest access from this page http://worldpigeon.com/index.php?ind=chat

    Last night I changed the Chat Room, login, and tweaked the chat room page.

     

    If you dont have Java installed on your machine a message will be displayed saying so (you must have Java (Java Runtime Environment) installed for chat to work.). If you see this message, follow the link into the message forum, to the post which gives instructions to download and install Java.

     

    Webmaster :)

     

    It's best to use firefox, aside from the fact that it doesn't support activeX controls (used for browser highjacking), it will install the needed JRE files for you if you don't already have them. In short isn't a better browser and far more secure than some other offerings.

    Hi Doo,

     

    The chat room is usually busy from 3pm (-5 GMT).

     

    I think the best suggestion that I could give for the current set-up, would be that someone open a topic where persons could post when they enter the chatroom. Another suggestion would be that if you go in, consider staying there to give others a chance to enter, rather than just going in and leaving within seconds if there is noone else there, which is something that happens all too often. Sometimes people only miss eachother by mear seconds.

     

    Also there is a script running in the chatroom now, which if you know the nickname of a specific chatter, it will tell you when they were last in teh room. Instructions for how to use that are provided upon entry to that chatroom.

     

    If there are any suggestions let the webmaster of PB know and if there's soemthing I can do he can reach me quite easily.

    I'm sure you've seen some of the phots I posted on WRPD, I use a Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3.

    Quite right Craig; however it is stated on each chat page that the chat room is served by the WRPD site, which is of course Ross'. It was decided many moons ago that one room for the two sites was the best option; as members of either site need only to check the one room - we've all seen empty chat rooms - no fun :) As the topic has come up, I'd like to thank Ross once again for hosting the chat room ;)

     

    You're quite welcom my good friend, I'm always happy to help out my friends and fellow pigeon fanciers.

    She is now up for auction on the AB classic auctions I believe the current bid for her in 40 CDN dollars or 20# give or take.

    Getting trouble accessing the chat room to. I had a security warning display sbout some applet being applied, and after allowing it to open, nothing happened. Any ideas what is wrong??

     

    When that happens try reloading the page, sometimes it's as simple as that.

    I had to reboot the router, which as I supsected lead to a change of the ip address, as such the records will need to be updated in the registrar which will take 24-48 hours. So there will be no chatroom until the updates take affect.

    The World Racing Pigeon site is "down"--Thats where this chat room is

     

    You are correct my sites are down for now, however I was not the one hosting the sites or the chatroom. However as a result of the recent issues I will be hosting all my own sites and will also host an irc server. Provided of course my isp doesn't hassle me over the bandwidth. The irc server and everything needed for my sites are actually up and running as of a few days ago for the websites and about an hour ago for the chat server.

     

    Without getting too technical, I have a few more things to set up which shouldn't take long to do. That said if I don't have to reboot my router the chat should be available for use within the next few hours. If I have to reboot the router, it may not be available until sometime Monday. None the less I know it's down and I am working to get a new server up and going, just be patient.
