  1. It was the Midlands Continental Club at Portsmouth and they went at 9.30, The Derbyshire Fed went at 9.00. You might be right with the clashing though, this is part of a thread on Pigeonchat about the MCC race. 'HI thanks lads, not come bad for 1st race of season timed 7 in 7 mins had 2 whu rung birds with later birds pleased with them all the best mike, u know if u start back up i will breed u some clive'
  2. I think ETS rounds up or down to the nearest second for the purpose of manual data loading into a race result program. If and when we can plug the clock straight into a race computer then the ETS system will probably download the exaxt clocking down to the 1000th of a second. It is possible, and it has been done, to clock two birds on the same second with a T3. The banning of more than one rubber in a thimble was brought in to stop fanciers claiming multiple firsts when advertising birds for sale.
  3. Here's the latest times: http://www.nationalflyingclub.co.uk/ResultsForm.php
  4. Solent up at 10.00 Guernsey I watched as many libs as I could at Portsmouth up to 9.00am, all cleared extremely well . The last lib I witnessed was the Derbyshire birds going at 9.00 (see photo)
  5. I have watched it and I altered my loft and found the sections to be very useful when you're training cocks or hens, esp the hens. They can fly back to the nestboxes without the cock being present, very helpful when you are at work. The video is in the form of a lecture and is one of the few videos I have watched at one sitting, he really gets your attention. There's a copy for sale in the misc items thread.
  6. I feel that with the ever increasing early lib scenario clashing is just going to be an ever increasing problem. It seems to me that in recent years we seem to be having more and more races where pigeons are being lost on apparently good racing days. I believe that compressing most of the libs in a short early morning slot is adding to the problem of young bird losses. Also when a young bird gets lost from an early morning lib the chances of getting it the next day are reduced greatly by the fact that it has had 12hrs flying time under its belt and not a lot left in the tank. At least with afternoon racing darkness brought the YB to a stop and you had a good chance to get it next day. Are early morning libs providing Percy with a good meal to start the day off, has there been any investigation into the feeding habits of hawks, I notice that there is a marked decrease in wild bird activity in the early afternoon, would falcons also be less active at this time? I raced many years with afternoon racing the norm and we only seemed to have big losses when the weather intervened, now you just don't know what sort of race is in store even on seemingly good days. It seems to me that having an early lib ,especially with young birds, the birds just don't seem to be in racing mode that early in the day, they're not focussed enough and prone to wander, I personally would like to return to the later liberation times, we never had a problem with these in the past and young birds then were 'young' birds not the darkness induced, mature ,superbly trained specimens that are raced today.

  8. Usual race for me with the Solent Fed at Exeter, 9/11 all singles.
  9. SOLENT FED liberated 07.45 from Exeter, light SW wind. Hope the fog's cleared.
  10. 07.30, Here in Portsmouth cloudless blue sky, no wind but pockets of fog along the coast. http://www.harboureye.co.uk/
  11. The weather here Tuesday was very poor, clear & dry but total cloud with a very strong Northerly wind and cold with it. It would be no surprise to me that you had an extremely testing race. The conditions were worse than when the NW Combine had their difficult race in May with a colder & stronger wind. I trained from Bournemouth 35 mls west of me and my birds struggled with a side wind, and the weather was much brighter there with short breaks of sunshine. I hope you get some birds work through but its been windier today with rain showers.
  12. Sorry I didn't see the thread earlier Pigeonpete, how did the race go? Been overcast most of the day with a strong Norrthely wind. If you need any further weather updates for the Portsmouth area try this site for live webcam pictures of Portsmouth Harbour looking North towards Fareham. http://www.harboureye.co.uk/ Also this is an amateur Weather site 6mls North of Fareham http://www.clanfieldweather.co.uk/index.html It has a webcam film of todays weather on it, not much sun.
  13. Thanks for that, Chris & Iplates
  14. Has anyone bought any of this firms products? I am considering buying a stock loft from them and would like any comments on their products.
  15. Solent went at 10.00 at Kingsdown, good race with good returns.
  16. Portsmouth 07.45, Total overcast, persistent drizzle, very light NNW wind at the moment, an improving picture is forecast for later in the day. http://www.clanfieldweather.co.uk/live.html
  17. This is an iformative weather site: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/se_latest_weather.html
  18. Portsmouth 08.00. Cloudy with sunny breaks, clear, wind SSW 5mph,
  19. i think the RPRA decided to keep Electronic Timing Systems in their own section with their own rules so that all existing Clock rules appertaining to manual clocking with rubbers could remain intact with no alterations necessary.
  20. If the clock does not record the pad serial number what point is there of sealing a pad in position if you can just plug another one in.
  21. Congratulations Andy, & well done Wiley
  22. Rose, The fact that it isn't asked for means that it is not mandatory, if the RPRA had thought it neccessary they would have put it in the rule.
  23. The RPRA ruling is quite clear, sealing is not mandatory. Anyone who has an antennae fitted as per this rule is abiding by RPRA rules so how can they be diqualified? 241. The antennae of the ETS must be fitted within the confines of the loft or trapping systems, not underneath external landing boards. Club officials may make random checks at any time. Contravention of this rule will result in disciplinary action under rule 70A.
  24. This is the minute issued by the Solent Fed Committee, the also want all ring numbers as well. Good of them to accept ETS even though they had no choice. The Federation will accept ETS, providing clubs abide by the following working minute from the committee. All ETS antenna must be sealed within the loft and all cable connections with a RPRA seal by the club officials and all seals must be recorded & sent, along with the members name and loft number to the Secretary of the Solent South Road Federation before the first young Bird race. All members using the ETS system must send to the Solent South Road Federation Secretary a list of all pigeon ring numbers and the e-ring numbers along with the members name and loft number. This is only a minute and must be incorporated into the Federation rulebook for 2008.
  25. My thoughts exactly Tony, but they have diqualified several fanciers for just this reason.
