  3. Hi , my Long distance family has Stickelbaut blood as the base, Had this family 30 odd years now, website. www.longdistancepigeons.co.uk Paul Woolliss.
  4. This is a difficult question to answer, reason been weather conditions, many pigeons wil fly and do well at 500 miles in a tail wind, but wind on the nose, or no wind and it will be a diiferent matter, As one of the earlier posts said its time on the wing that kills pigeons. They also come in all shapes and sizes im afraid, winners i mean, yes we all like them to be mr Perfect but this is not always the case.In my own team they would all have to fly 500 very early in life to be able to go on further i mean, But i like small to medium birds , like silk tight vent slightly long casted if possible. One day i had a man come from away to buy some babies, and naturally he handled all the birds, at the time i had 7 , 700 milers in the loft winners included, i gave him all the 7 not telling him anything , he said as i gave him them as this flown the distance yes was the reply, he shook his head, next one same it had been 1st 476 miles and scored 5 times at 500 miles he shook his head. I said is there something wrong dont you like them you keep shaking your head, the man said Mr Woolliss im 77 years old i have never seen pigeons that have won like these that do not have a big step in there wing im shocked. Two of the birds had 14 national prizes between them from 370 miles to 815 miles, In fact i think in the 7 there was 20 ish national postions between them.Plus the 500 mile club and fed prizes well just short of 500 ,food for thought perhaps.

  9. Any/ chance, of delivering 2 birds from Grimsby to Cornwall this week, thanks Paul.
  10. Oops Sorry Traynor, Its not your federation i was talking about the Lincs Federation , cheers Paul.
  11. In our Federation,Which is yours also, They have flown Nevers on the day 476 miles and scored, Also a Van/Camp cross flew and clocked from Tarbes 710 miles the season before last. Again in the Van/camps there is sprint and distance lines, In the L.S.D, CLUB, which is duplicated from the M.N.F.C A VAN/CAMP won from Tours 426 miles so, its a case of try them and see different management can bring different results.
  12. Yeah, i asked for that one, when i was young once a month my mum would treat us to a Battenburgh cake on a sunday why a sunday i dont know, didnt like them that much anyway. The Battenburghs are fetching silly money latley up to a grand each off the top birds recently on Pipa, I have paired mine to my top breeders so we shall see eventually but like everything it takes time and patience, or may skip a generation before they show. but if they do not fly 700 and 800 miles for me they will not stay thats for sure.
  13. Hi, yes i have the Battenburghs, but have not had them long enough too see if they can do it for me, Theres a couple on my website if you want to look, cheers Paul. www.longdistancepigeons.co.uk
  14. As Phil says, Borgmans good all round family in fact in my opinion not a long distance family at all. but very good at sprint but i would say they like middle/distance too, but as in all strains you never no there capabilitys till you test them, and the above hen cut it with the best in Europe at Long/ distance.
  15. Just checked my records, The race was in 2004 and the distance was 657 miles to be exact The Bourgman hen was 22nd open n.f.c Dax 1st sec K Dax vel 847 hope this helps and ties in with the info you have cheers Paul.
  16. Hi Pigeon 82, Think i can help you on this one, The G/Mother in question was raced by Marco Wilson of Cleethorpes a good friend of mine, She won 1st section Dax in the N.F.C. and scored in the open result and the International Hens result. The distance was about 680 miles. Marco had the Bourgmans De/Klak pigeons, if that name does not sound correct it would have been Carl Young of Young and Gladding who had the mother of Marcos,, klak hen, i handled both the mother and the hen that scored at Dax both superb specimens with super eye/sign.Those cheqs in your pictures show a remarkable resemblance to the Dax hen.
  17. Have used cabbage water for the last 25 years or so, and carrott water, just poured it straight into the drinker, no problems for me or what i could see anyway, Paul.
  18. Hi Ken, just reading your post about Lona, did not understand the old stock cock bit, anything you would like to know, just ask i presume you realise she was a hen Lona, vanwanroy x Stickelbaut , the Pol Bostyn stickelbauts, The van/wanroy side she went right back to The Barcelona international winner of joe Hendricks Twello, Her G/children are winning still in uk, scotland, Wales and Japan ,Most recent report 4 weeks ago in the Europa race her blood helped 4th open for Mr Peter Ryder a tough race by all accounts, Paul Woolliss.
  19. Hi Peter Pau, i agree with you there, very difficult, the late Great Stan Biss always stated he thought Palamos to be the hardest race point to pigeons, you only have too see how many are home each year from the race to judge, 20 per cent if your lucky on average.
