  6. went fishing at a pool in wildboarclough in cheshire one dropped not 6 foot away pecking at a small bird
  7. spot on stuart with your remarks a lovely couple always has time to talk also its plain to see why they have been so succesful Geof is so quite and placid around the loft that the birds must oose confidence
  8. in most other races like horse racing and greyhound racing if 2 go over the line together its called a dead heat and the next one over the line takes third
  9. years ago when breeding pellets first came out for racing pigeons i thought i would give them a try the youngsters grew so quickly in the first week that if you did not ring them before 7 days old you struggled to get the ring on but after 11 days old they seemed to level the rate of growth off to a normal rate did not see any great difference in size or quality of youngsters at weaning time but there was no wastage of food as the old birds did not scatter it looking for certain grains i alwats ring now about 7 days but i am always checking as it also gets the youngsters used to being handled at an early age
  10. ets is the only clocking in system that i am aware of that does not require SEALING WHY ?????? ps i am not anti ets i just wondered
  11. fine stu if you have allready decided who you are buying off i would put my faith in that person as you must have trusted him before deciding to buy off him as you know stu good birds come in all shapes and sizes a typical example is your tarbes cock and your pau hen you know the one i picked out and suggested where it should go
  12. good point delboy
  13. if possible i would look for fanciers who are scoring well with only a small setup in top competition that are in or near to your own AREA
  14. dont want to scare munger but get your birds tested PROPERLY for paratyphoid
  15. i remember a good flyer once saying that they did not believe in floating eggs as they thought that it contributed to YOUNG BIRD SICKNESS as the immune system in the young in the egg was different to the foster parents immune system and when they hatched out it could cause problems im not saying i believe it but it is food for thought some people say that bringing youngsters in from another fanciers loft could also cause trouble re YBS but i know of many fanciers whos stock loft is not on the same site as their race loft so would that count as another loft
