peanuts works for me i hand feed them any new birds have to take them from my hand i let them get the taste of them by putting a few in there nest box then stop.

i was the same never bred any untill i got a chocolate yb from oldyellow that carried the yellow blood line she just bred the odd yellow untill i put her to a yellow cock now thay come every nest and there off spring breed yellows, so your mate or yourself needs a bird or birds that have the blood line.
