Just got some clean second hand pigeon boxs off someone made from 3/4 ply. Dont no what to do leave them as wood or paint them with gloss

I am strong nearly got killed 9 years ago I got eletricuted 5 sec off being dead but still here .I will win a show and a race when I start racing been to show today judge said my two birds was excellent but he doesn't like white pigeon
