sometimes it gets down to zero , and frosts , but at the moment we are in a heat wave, in the 40's all this week

hi the mesh on there is just to hold the smaller gauge wire on the front , i used that to go around the door , and will cover it with small gauge wire, what is upvc ? also i have heard differnt people talk about mesh floors, what do you think of them ? jase

hi guys, i am in the process of building a small breeding aviery for 1 pair, of valencian pouters , spanish theft pigeons here is some pics of it dont laugh i made this out of a old ute canopy , and then it was a cocky cage :B it is only 8 foot long, and 3 and a half foot wide, but should be okay for a pair ? is it also possible to keep a pair together all year ? or to hard on the hen ? in the house section i am going to use some flat steel for the floor, and some type of timber ? on the flight part, and cover the whole roof flight and all with a tin roof , what would the best type of floor to use timber wise ? iam useing timber so it wont be so hot here in the summer , we are in a heat wave at the moment :'( something that will last out in the weather ? and will hold my 90 kg frame :B regards jase

hi guys, after looking for some valencian pouters for 3 years, i have found someone who is going to sell me a cock bird and 2 hens, the cock bird is a grizzle , and the hens are blue bars, what color would i get from them ? would it be a color i could show ? here is a picture of the father of the cock bird, i havent seen the bird for sale , is this old boy a good type bird , ? , i like him alot , also the breed is rare as hens teeth here in australia also can i keep all 3 birds together in the same loft all the time ? would the cock bird breed with both hens at the same time ? is that possible ? also would it be possible to keep all 3 in the same loft all year round, or better to sepurate ? i will only have 3 birds, and i have 3 small lofts sorry for all the questions regards jase

hi guys, do a lot of you guys keep spanish pouters in the uk ? in australia you dont see them , there is only a small number of people here who have them, how many breeds of them would roughly be over there ? jason

well when i get some i was thinking of breeding for shows to start with ? i was thinking if i was to have 3 or so small lofts i would keep them in a racing type loft, ? hens in 1 part , cocks in another , in this type of aussie loft, do you think thay could be kept in a racing type setup ? cockbirds together ? jase

thanks for the reply Glassfeather , lovely birds you have there , here in australia the theft birds are not seen , there are valencians , but there is only a couple of people with the marchernero , i finerly found a breeder who breeds theft pigeons , he has some valencians and some marchernero xs , he is breeding them with homers to breeds his own theft pigeons, he is going to breed me a pure valencian cock bird , and also a marchernero x cock bird to get me started in breeding theft pigeons 8) the only problem is working out a loft desigh that will suit them, as i am a novice when it come sto spanish poulters , could you please if you get a chance take some pics of your pens and coop for me please ? any help would be great regards jase

hi guys, i have always liked theft pigeons, have been thinking about getting other breeds but there my favorites , i was lucky enough to find someone here in australia who is going to sell me some birds, i have put a order in for a pure valencian cock bird , and a marchernero x bred cock bird , it only took me around 3 years to find someone who has and will sell me some, does anyone keep the breed and have pics or info on the best type of houseing for them thanks ? any help would be great regards jase

hi guys, i found out a mate of mine has heaps of large white pigeons freeflying around his farm, i think thay are kings ? , he said if i help catch them i can have a couple of pairs , how do you catch them ? and then sex them ? do the males dance arond and chace the girls like racing pigeons do ? also sorry for all the questions, but are racing pigeons sutabile for freeflying pets ? , please dont laugh at my novice questions, as i like both king and racing pigeons , but i only want around 2 pairs to fly around the backyard, would the local racing guys laugh at me if i ask them for a couple of pairs :B regards jase

hi guys, is it possible to have a couple of pairs of birds freeflying around the backyard ? i have been told fantails , and also modenas ? are these good breeds to try ? or can anyone tell me what other breeds would work okay ? i want to keep them in a large aviery to start with with a couple of nest boxes , once thay are use to the place , do i just let them out or what is the best way to go about it ? any help would be great , regards jase
