  17. my reply : The fact is cuckoo don't build there own nests they rely on other birds such as thrush ectra and lay there eggs to colour of same bird , as most these birds are in serious decline then this effects the cuckoo , man has interfered with releasing high numbers of birds of prey mainly peregrine these are a countryside birds and naturaly wouldn't be in city's only by mans manipulation are they there now , now numbers are above endangered levels the protection should be lifted and left to nature .
  18. Re: Save And Protect British Song Bird Society By burocrat basher in Talking Point Songbird Petition. I am not sure you can put all the blame on these Predators,40 or 50 years ago these Predators were around and the Song Bird Population was thriving.I think perhaps this problem is a lot more complex than you yourself and the RSPB is making of it.I wonder whether the Cuckoo issue is because of the wet Springs we have been having in recent years and their Biological/Genetic part of their Brain has chipped in and said dont go there its a waste of time.Apparantly they are still in France and as the Bird flies from Africa its not that much further to the UK. I also dont think the RSPB is correct in saying Modern Farming Methods and Sprays have affected Birds because there are areas in say South West England that engage in Pastoral Farming as has been practiced for Hundreds of years and their Song Bird numbers have fallen at the same rate as Arable areas. A combination of Magpies,Birds of Prey,Cats, wet Springs,Air Pollution by Internal Combustion Engines [ I would like to see a comparison of the number of Cars and the decline of Birds over the last 50 years, remember the canaries did'nt like the Carbon Monoxide in the Coal Mines] and perhaps some changes in Agriculture are all worthy culprits in this disaster. ===============================
  19. if they arent no doubt they'll of starved to death not been killed by THE OTHER ORGANISATION , I TRUELY HOPE THEY BREED
  20. a pigeon loft has to be 1 metre away from all boundarys , and as a non perminant structure does not need planning permision , but the permision to keep pigeons by a landlord does im sure if you have done a plan of house boundarys and loft ectra it should cost nothing as its an existing building in permited development i.e that of a non perminant structure hope ths helps a bit , ring and talk to the the council planners as i found they werent that up on pigeon lofts and also said it would cost me to submit planning ectra which after a few talks cost me nothing , it will only cost you planning permision if your loft is on boundarys or to close to a road , all the best Mark
