  1. ive just started back with pigeons as my husband passed away 2 years ago and I did help him a lot with them and missed having to see to them and train them. I have a friend of his to help Hoppe this helps who hasnt raced for over 25 years so I've been training them to the whistle If they do go on the roof which only the very young ones do now all I have to do is blow the whistle and they come down. I always blow it to get them in and feed them. It doesnt take them long to learn, it was something my husband always did.
  2. there not going out tomorrow just having fresh water and no food and then we will see what happens Im surprised that I'm able to do this as I'm new to this forum and not very good on computers. Thanks for the advice, some of my husbands friends have given me help and advice and youngsters from our old pigeons that were sold at his bereavement sale. Had 4 from a friend from Bellshill lanarkshire

  5. my name is Heather and I used to be in partnership with my husband but sadly he passed away 2 years ago after been ill for only 5 weeks. I have decided to fly again with a friend of his who hasnt flown for 27 years, he could'nt doit without me and Icould'nt do it without his help. My husband and I won Bergerac 603 mls MNFC in 2003 I dont suppose I'll do it again but it wont be for not trying. I feel its away of been nearer to him which may seem strange to some people but I know how I feel. It was part of our life together.
  6. 4 pigeons were picked up in Scotland Tuesday morn and arrived in large box at 1200pm Wednesday. No problem. It was my first delivery of pigeons since my husband passed away 2 years ago. I didnt know what to expect. We used Amtrak and the Phantom Flyer when we were racing together. I am now going to do this with a friend of his this summer.Friends have been good and given us gift birds.
  7. Try Edlington Hill Top Flying Club at the at the Officials Club. Used to be held at the British Legion at Edlington. My husband and I did fly in the club but sadly he passed away 2 years ago. I am now helping a friend of his to fly from our lofts and will be in the partnership officially next year. I am now enjoying being part of pigeons once again. When my husband and I flew we managed to win MNFC Bergerac in 2003 I dont suppose we 'll do it again but it wont be for not trying. Hope this bit of info is of use to you.
  8. Mine is when my husband and I won Bergerac 603 mls in 2003 with M N F C after only starting back in pigeons a couple of years before. Sadly he passed away Feb 2006 but at least he achieved his ambition in pigeon racing. I shall be racing myself this young bird season with a friend of ours, hopefully we will win something. Also it was an honour to assist my friends Pat and Graham in their fund raising evening for Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield at an Eye Sign Show they held.
