  6. don't worry he's already passing on the good genes!
  7. he will prob be retired when he reaches 20 x 1st!
  8. so far he has 17 x 1st club, 3 x 1st fed (may be 4 times as he may have also topped a different fed as a yb), his sire, g/sire, gg/sire and ggg/sire are all multiple winners and breeders of winners but the cock in the pic still hasn't ben stopped for stock.
  9. I would agree with that for starters.
  10. I went to photograph the following pigeon belonging to a good friend of mine yesterday and when i found out what the bird had done it caused me to think! The qustion is when do you consider a bird good enough to retire to the stock loft?

most succesful fanciers will have had a mentor, it may be a relative or a friend but somebody help them start on the right foot. Linking newbies with a local fancier would give any of them a good start. How many times have we had newbies on here who realy don't know where to start from, where the nearest club is etc etc. It is expensive enough without spending money on a loft etc to find it then needs a lot of alterations etc to become suitable, much easier and cheaper to try and get it right first time.

I sugested on another thread that new starters/youngsters could register themselves on some kind of list. Maybe once they have registered on this list they could be visited by a current member in there area to confirm the status. Most of us like to help if we can but none of us want to be taken for fools! Phil
  17. I've been accross to Milton Keynes, back via Oxford and Swindon before coming down the M4 corridor and have hit some heavy thundery showers. Thunder may have scattered them!
  18. if you are just starting there will be plenty of latebreds available shortly which will make ideal stock that you can fly out. If you have room for a seperate stock loft then keep an eye out for oldbirds but personaly if starting again or for the first time i'd go for latebreds.
