ok i think i missed one word off on the title "ONE of the best websites on the net" i was only trying to halp any fancier looking to buy excellent birds from the very best by suggesting a link in which they could visit, this website has been around for years and has a very good reputation for providing the very best janssen pigeons in the world
-
i suggested a website which i think is the best on the net for buying top quality birds which i still beleive is true but this site is the best site for diffrent things such as getting infroatmion news etc etc, pipa is a good site for international links but not as good at providing news so each web site has their own speciality!

Long Distance racing is very diffrent compared to sprint / middle distance racing where as middle and sprint racing there are better familys for them with long distance i think you have to produce the long distance by working with diffrent pigeons crossing etc getting what you want buildinga team able to cope with the distance required, for us we have crossed odd longer distance birds which can cope with the distance De Hoogh & ZN, M.Gilbert, G.Glbeert, DeWeerdt etc crossing them with the klaks which put that little extra in to them
-
hi, Sorry i dont have any white birds any more except 1 or 2 in the race team stock pair was sold last year
-
Does any one here race verkerk birds, or know any one that does what sucesses have you had with the birds?

A swan found dead in Scotland has tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu. Ponds closed All parks in Glasgow were temporarily closed on Thursday morning after the find by park rangers. A number of dead swans discovered by a river in County Antrim are being examined by government vets. The government advises that anyone who finds one or more dead swans, ducks or geese, more than three dead birds of the same species or more than five dead birds of different species, in the same place, should contact the Defra helpline on 08459 33 55 77.

Preliminary tests have confirmed the H5 avian flu virus in a sample from a swan found dead in north east Fife, health officials have revealed. The exact virus strain is not known, but tests were continuing and further results were expected on Thursday. The Scottish Executive said the area around Cellardyke, north of Anstruther, was being sealed off. If the disease is confirmed as the deadly H5N1 strain there may be further restrictions put in place. An executive spokesman said: "In accordance with a recent EU decision the Scottish Executive is putting in place a protection zone of a minimum of three kilometres radius and a surveillance zone of 10 kilometres. QUICK GUIDE Bird flu "Keepers of birds in the protection zone are being instructed to isolate their birds from wild birds, by taking them indoors where ever possible." Measures to restrict the movement of poultry, eggs and poultry products from these zones will be brought into effect immediately. Officials stressed that there was no reason for public health concern. The H5N1 virus does not at present pose a large-scale threat to humans, as it cannot pass easily from one person to another. Bird keepers outside the protection zone should redouble their efforts to prepare for bringing their birds indoors if that becomes necessary Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland Charles Milne However, experts fear the virus could mutate to gain this ability, and in its new form trigger a flu pandemic, potentially putting millions of human lives at risk. According to the National Farmers Union Scotland, the Scottish poultry industry produces 127,000 tones of meat and 740 million eggs. Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland Charles Milne said: "Whilst disease has yet to be confirmed, this is an important development. "Bird keepers outside the protection zone should redouble their efforts to prepare for bringing their birds indoors if that becomes necessary. "They must also review their biosecurity measures to ensure that all possible precautions have been taken." Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell, in whose Fife North East constituency the bird was found, said he would follow the situation "very closely". High alert He said: "I have spoken directly to the (agriculture) minister, Ben Bradshaw, who has told me there cannot be final confirmation until tomorrow. "I have his assurance that all necessary steps will be taken and that there is no health risk to humans." First Minister Jack McConnell said he had spoken to other ministerial offices and was being kept informed of the situation. Mr McConnell was notified whilst on an engagement in Washington as part of his involvement in Tartan Week. BBC Scotland rural affairs correspondent Ken Rundle said that whilst the poultry industry would be on high alert, there would be relief that the virus had been found on a wild bird and not on a poultry farm. Denmark recorded its first case of the potentially deadly H5N1 avian flu virus last month. The strain has already been found in Europe this month in Switzerland, Poland, Serbia-Montenegro and Albania. France recorded its first case in February.

Officials are putting bird flu plans to the test during a real-time simulation of an outbreak in Britain. Hundreds of vets and farmers will also take part in Exercise Hawthorn, set three days into a hypothetical outbreak of avian influenza in poultry. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in London will run it with control centres in Bury St Edmunds, Leeds, Cardiff and Gloucester. The exercise will check safeguards are enough to prevent an epidemic. Farm 'outbreak' The exercise will involve the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Environment Agency, Downing Street, the Ministry of Defence, and other government departments. Veterinary and farming groups are among the dozens of other organisations involved, as are groups from the shooting and pigeon-racing sectors. We are on guard - that's why we're having this contingency exercise Ben Bradshaw Rural affairs minister Animal welfare charity the RSPCA, the EU, and foreign governments will also take part. The exercise based on a scenario in which a highly pathogenic strain of bird flu is found on a free-range poultry farm in Norfolk on day zero. On day two, two other suspect cases are reported at a turkey farm in the north of England and at an egg production unit in south Wales on the English border. The exercise begins on the third day, when initial reports on the first cases are due. Participants are expected to perform tasks in line with plans while a handful of control teams change the scenario for them to react accordingly. The two-day exercise will continue on Thursday. Last October, a similar test focused on making sure the necessary IT facilities were in place. "We mustn't be complacent," said Rural Affairs Minister Ben Bradshaw. "We are on guard - that's why we're having this contingency exercise because you can't protect yourself 100% against it coming here, but you can make sure you've got a good plan in place to contain and eradicate it if it does." yer have to say never heard of that bird before usually i only see ring numbers of de klaks pedigrees so may know it by ring number, i know the Blauwe 613, blauwe doffer, Kleinzoon Marietje, Maritje,De knook, Witoger, wittenpennke, Schone Late, Goie etc Janssens 019 , merckx janssen etc
-
if i was to keep every bird i would have a major problem and would be very overcrowded. with many thousands of birds. i have not had any complaints as off yet with the birds i have sent out with birds winning and club, fed level for fanciers
-
good to see they are creating a loft which meets all the pigeons requirments good ventelation etc plenty of room better than overcrowding etc, in holland, belgium and germany they mostly haev brick built lofts now many wooden sheads any more much more up to date. good to see M&D Evans moving with the times so many people in the sport are quick to put people down etc and stand still and then moan why they are not winning or competing as well as they should be.
