  1. I would like to thank Redcheqhen and her husband for the two hens; they are spot on and are settling in well. It was also very good of them and to show me round their lofts and pigeons. Thanks again Dave I have also attached some photos as promised
  2. Hi RedCheqhen, Thanks for the welcome I feel proud and privileged to be accepted as a member. On the fur coat business don’t you mean fur coat posh knickers estate? Seriously though I did apply for planning permission but the new planning laws came into effect on the 1st October 2008 these are aimed at making it easier to build in your own garden within a certain size. I kept the size of the build down to 10ft x 8ft x 7ft 6’ high, stated that it is to be used as a pigeon loft in my application and then I received my exemption notice letter to go ahead and erect my loft. Hi Peterpau, I am just in the process of settling my birds into the loft. Once they are settled in I will post some photos on for you. Regards Dave
  3. Hi tractorboy, i don't know if he raced to the loft i car'nt remeber that far back but he did fly to the loft in the photo i have attached this is from the early 70's and again it's me and my Dad this time he is holding his Fed winner. Hi bird man of meath, the loft is 10 ft x 8ft 2 sections young birds and old birds. Regards Dave
  4. Hi leighton1984, yes the tiles do let air out, there is also a 2'' air vent just under the roof at the front and back. I have designed some vents at the front at the bottom that can be opened or closed they are directed upwards towards the void in the apex of the roof where two chimineys that draw air through. I hopfully have covered all angles when it comes to ventilation to try and create the right enviroment for the pigeons to be healthy. Regards Dave
  5. Thanks all, Mac1 i am in East Cleveland. The last time i raced pigeons it was 20 years ago but i have always loved them as my dad had them from me being little and before. I have a lot to live upto as the lads i grow up with all continued to fly and toped the Up North Combine. Here's a photo of me and my dad a few years ago. Regards Dave
  6. Hi All, I have been listening and learning now for over a year. I have taken all the ideas from advice given and added some of my own that I think will help me become a competent pigeon racer and are putting them into practice. You will notice that I have not completed many postings this is because they often go off on a tangent and I don’t want to get involved in all that. On a positive note there are lots of good ideas and information to be gained and some really nice gestures from one fancier to another I have seen. I have attached photo’s of my loft I have built from scratch (nothing bought everything hand made) using all what I have learnt off here and other sources i.e. books, other websites and from people I have met who keep pigeons. I would just like to say this is a very good forum and thank you for the good information and advice that i have found on here. Hopefully this will continue and inspire other people like me. I have attached some photo's of my loft and the pigeons that hopefully will breed some good racers this year. Dave

    2x white hens wanted

Hi All, Thanks for the information. Does anyone have the contact details for a user who was on this forum but now i believe not his ID on here was Invincible Spirit (Paul) he left me a PM but never left any contact details. Dave
  9. Hi, please can anyone help me I am new to racing pigeons I purchased my first pair to breed off this at the end of last year. They are white Carmiel Cardons, unfortunately i have come to the conclusion they are both cocks. I have been taking advice off here and i have joined the RRPA and received my rings, but now i am stuck without any hens as i can not breed. I know i am being fussy but i would like to keep this strain but if not any information on where to purchase two white racing hens i.e. rapid bus hearts, logins, debars etc. at a reasonable price would be greatly appreciated Dave

    pigeon rings

Hi chrissy, they are racing pigeons but i don't at this point intend on racing them. I am just keeping them for pets. I always think pigeons look naked without a ring on. I used to race pigeons a long time ago and are just starting to get into them again. Thanks for the information Dave

    pigeon rings

Advice please on pigeon rings Please can anyone advice me on how to purchase pigeon rings, not name and address rings or stock rings but permanent ones with year and number on them. I will not be racing the pigeons and don’t wish to join a racing club. I have heard about r.r.pa rings are these the type I am looking for? and if so how do I go about getting hold of some? Thanks in advance Dave
