Does anyone think that this hen’s eye would match the cock’s eye above for breeding?

Thanks for the reply's The ring was cut off a long time ago. It may have have just knocked it. Just to explain i have not seen the bird's leg myself sinse it has swollen as it's at my Dads loft and he just asked me to ask for ideas to take down the swelling and wondered if they my be a conection as the ring had been cut off before. Regards Dave

Any ideas, in good health and condition cock bird has one swollen leg. It is the leg that had the life ring on, the ring has previously been removed because of swollen leg before the bird came to us. Also any ideas on how to take the swelling down? I can not supply any photos as the bird is not at my loft. Regards Dave

Now this might stir up a few emotions/reactions. After posting this message within a few minuets it’s plain to see there are a lot of professional people out there passionate about pigeons. With all this expertise in the sport why is it that the sport of pigeon racing in decline. Seems to me that the sport is not being promoted and marketed to fulfil its puritanical. I have come back to pigeon racing after 30 years and very little has changed. If the sport was promoted properly playing to its strengths i.e. patron Queen, on Coronation Street, charity work and the gambling/money side of the sport to name but a few, maybe it would have some clout to address the things like birds of prey and encouraging younger people to get involved. To me it’s like anything you can be the best, have the hobby, do the best work but if no one knows about it it becomes futile to encourage growth and change perceptions. My opinion would be that the sport needs to employ some one not necessarily in pigeons but some one who would get out there and promote pigeon racing to raise its profile. NB. That was sharp Old yellow but I am afraid that the gritting of the roads is not my department but it was funny!

The other day whilst at work in a conversation I mentioned I kept racing pigeons. Their reaction was pigeons and you know when you get that look of people as if to say are you daft! Anyway I found myself as usual defending the sport by saying the Queen keeps them you know and lots of people do. With them replying isn’t it just old men with flat caps and whippets? I replied saying no there are all sorts of people from all walks of society that keep pigeons . So I thought it would be interesting to see what professions pigeon men/persons were on here. I will start I am a service manager for the local authority

fits replied to a topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
The anticipation whilst waiting for your birds to come home from the race and watching the flocks from other groups going over and also trying to spot one of yours as early as possible. It’s just magic. -
