  1. im 135miles east of dundee on shearwater oil/gas platform & its very poor here, wind 51 knots gusting 60 knots from a northerly direction 356 degrees 100% cloud cover down to 200 feet, heavy rain, rain forecast for the next 12 hours+ and poor visibility, sea state/swell 7.5 mtrs+ 7 degrees at the moment, feels like winter has arrived ?? just hope no birds have strayed offshore, on a plus the 20 or so racing birds that were here disappeared yesterday when the wind first got up and the skies were still clear, headed south west john
  2. here here, i was missing 14 from 32 at 7pm last night, think there will be many postmortems today?? was a strange/hard day for the birds yesterday and by all accounts looking at some of the comments many have taken a hit of some sort, just hope they work back or are reported john
  3. Happy birthday pps, have a cracking day john

  16. for me i train my youngsters from 5 miles up to around 30 miles usually around 6 to eight training tosses then to the first race 67 miles. i usually only go as far as 200 miles max, i think its far enough for the youngsters and i wont send them if the weather doesnt look favourable, like some of the comments suggest you have to think about next year?? but not everyone shares the same opinion as there are fanciers who put their birds to the young bird national and will usually fly the whole young bird fed programme up to 250+ miles then send to the national which is some 360 miles give or take a few miles and good luck to them all john
  17. good idea, i think its the way to go, but it would be down to the connvoyer discrecion as he/she has enough to do getting the birds ready for liberating?? john
