Peter once it's in the loft it is easy spread on your clothes on your feet from section to section If proper treatment in water.it is easy cured ask someone local who has had it they should be able to tell you I deal with belgica and respect their information but found by far the best cure was no food for 48 hrs Not a problem birds that are not racing getting it It's the racing team it affects as people push them to quick I got lucky this year taking it months ago giving plenty of time to get them right prior to season commencing As stated on here problem once season has started is jumping birds that are probably not A 1 Be patient they are always there for next year Atb mick

You are correct defo contacted the virus in the basket Don't feed for 48 hrs give treatment in water also something to stop them dehydrating which they will do Please don't make mistake I did years ago and enter them to quickly as they will go down

Lindsay Replying to your post by Greg Large First of all having kept the doos since 1970 I had never encountered YBS until a few years back with birds that were gifted to me , didn't no what I had at first and was still training them , was not sure what to do and got advice from a friend after a while they looked fine , I then entered them back into a race they were liberated into a very strong west wind from an easterly direction and went down like snow on a dyke Obviously far from right lesson learned I then gave my stock colostrum whilst they were sitting and rearing also the youngsters when spained for a few weeks and never had the sickness again This year I did not give colostrum and noticed just as they were coming of the darkness them taking a wee backward step also the naturals as by this time they were running as one They would exercise but not as they should they were lacking that sparkle First sign droppings went from perfect to the odd small creamy dropping I knew then that they were coming down with the sickness I have a large team went in next morning and one was very poorly picked it up and low and behold it was one I had purchased from a sale coincidence make up your own mind on that one ? They then came down with the sickness but I had made contact with a friend whom I will not name on an open forum put the treatment in the water and within 60hrs no sickness should also say no food was given for first 48hrs As they started to exercise again I was still far from happy so I sent samples to Belgica , all came back clear when they phoned me but did ask if I had encountered any health issues as there was a very high bacterial count This was put down to the sickness and a treatment was prescribed As per usual items were delivered within 24 hrs However things had taken a turn the previous night as I study the birds very closely I noticed two birds pecking around the floor when I was feeding them looked like they wanted to eat but were unable to pick up the grains I then knew immediately the problem and did not add the prescription to the water , instead I treated with parastop for 10 days then a course of minerals Birds now leave the loft like greyhounds and race the sky's for hours if the falcon attacks like last night they are more than capable of out flying her they land for 30 minutes then when all is clear race the sky's once more Perfect health Yes as far as I am concerned Falcons still main problem but fanciers not spotting a problem rates up there also Paratyphus salmonella ecoli big problem we haven't a clue what we are shifting from loft to loft
