Filip Herbots 1943/2022 🙏🕊️ Filip was undoubtedly one of the pioneers of pigeon racing. In fact, he had only one golden rule and that was "work hard". A piece of advice he gave to everyone until his last days. Filip himself was often described as a "jack of all trades". To please his parents, Filip obtained a teaching diploma. After his studies, he taught deaf children in Uccle, but being in front of a class was not really his thing. Together with his father-in-law, he fattened pigs, then started a wholesale fruit business and eventually ended up in the secretariat of the Catholic Industrial College of Limburg, where he became head of department. In 1966, Filip married his great love Jacqueline and they became the happy parents of five children: Jo, Raf, Miet, Tom and Lize. Filip had "business" in his fingers and by chance he ended up in the pigeon business in the early 1980s. Day and night he was there for everyone, which is probably the cornerstone of a successful career. The result of his hard work is now more than known to everyone in the international pigeon world. But besides being a businessman, Filip was first and foremost a pigeon fancier. His respect for his winged friends was enormous and his admiration for real top birds was unparalleled. Anyone who had the chance to talk to him about pigeons will certainly agree. Filip... we will always cherish the memories of the person you were.

Copied from Facebook 13th September 2025 North of Scotland Federation Show I have just received confirmation for the booking for Whitehills Comunity hall on Sunday the 16th of November. The reason fir going to this hall is simple cast and amenities, the previous hall gave me a estimate which worked out in the region of between £300 and £500 which is not viable for a show. I am trying to turn the clock back and have a show as we did in the past therefor the Agenda will look like this:- The show it’s self, prize money will depend as always on entries but it will not be expensive to enter pigeons A talk by up to three fanciers on various topics A sale young birds, old birds or any viable proposition - give me a call Included within the hire of the hall is a kitchen completed with tea/coffee facilities micro wave etc, Ruth is to supply tea and coffee with biscuits but I don’t know if that will stretch to Jammie Dodgers ! Any enquires about the pigeons please contact Eric Yule, for the rest please contact Ruth/Stuart or nyself. Updates will be posted on this Face Book pages.
