LERWICK POSTPONED - IMPORTANT NRCC RACE UPDATE

 

The NRCC Committee held an emergency meeting this evening following serious concerns raised by both our Weather Advisor and Convoyer regarding conditions forecast for the upcoming Lerwick race scheduled for Saturday 4th July.

 

After carefully reviewing detailed weather reports for Saturday and the days that follow, forecasts show persistent rain and strong westerly winds, with the jet stream remaining firmly in place, meaning conditions are unlikely to improve throughout the week.

 

With the welfare of our pigeons as the absolute priority, the Committee has made the difficult but necessary decision to POSTPONE the Lerwick race by ONE WEEK.

 

📌 NEW RACE SCHEDULE

• Marking: Wednesday 8th July

• Liberation: Saturday 11th July

 

Following this decision:

 

✅ Paper Entries and PigeonOnline entries will remain OPEN until 10pm on Sunday 5th July for members still wishing to enter.

 

✅ Members who have already entered pigeons but are unable to race on Saturday 11th July due to prior commitments will receive a full refund.

 

We understand this decision will disappoint some members, however the safety and welfare of the pigeons must always come first.
