http://img.skysports.com/10/10/800x600/Scotland-v-Spain-James-Morrison-Joan-Capdevil_2514501.jpg Fernando Llorente's late winner broke Scottish hearts and gave Spain a 3-2 win in their Euro 2012 qualifier at Hampden Park. Scotland had battled back from 2-0 down against the world and European champions to give themselves hope of a famous result, but substitute Llorente struck in the 79th minute to maintain Spain's 100 per cent record in Group I. Allan McGregor was superb with a string of first-half saves before the Scots' resistance was broken by a 44th minute penalty by David Villa, which put the Barcelona star level with Raul as Spain's all-time leading scorer on 44 goals. Andres Iniesta then made it 2-0 in the 55th minute, but Scotland pulled one back just three minutes later as Steven Naismith claimed his first international goal. And although Gerard Pique's own-goal drew the hosts level in the 66th minute, Llorente was left unmarked just three minutes after coming on to turn home his third goal in two qualifiers and condemn Scotland to another glorious failure. Manager Craig Levein declared beforehand that this Spain side was possibly the best Scotland have ever faced and one look at the team-sheet backed that theory, with nine of the players who started the World Cup final in Vicente del Bosque's line-up.

Team news With the Three Lions hit with a number of injury problems, Kranjcar will see this game as an opportunity to cause an upset. John Terry and Phil Jagielka are both out so Manchester City's Joleon Lescott is expected to partner Ferdinand in the heart of defence. Peter Crouch will start up front in the absence of the injured Darren Bent,http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif who misses out on the chance to impress Capello after netting against Switzerland last time out. Wayne Rooney has been the subject of much talk since allegations over his private life surfaced last month, and the star forward will once more be under the spotlight. Rooney has looked a shadow of the player that produced scintillating displays in the Premier League last season, although he was on target in England's last fixture. Jermain Defoe, Bobby Zamora,http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif Michael Dawson and Frank Lampardhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif are also sidelined, with Lampard the only one likely to return to action in the near future. Aaron Lennonhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif is absent, while fellow midfielder James Milner will sit out through suspension. It means relative rookies Adam Johnson and Ashley Young have the chance to stake their claim on the wings, while experienced striker Kevin Davieshttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif will be desperate to get on the field after finally earning an international call. Montenegro are sweating on the fitness of Mirko Vucinic, as the Roma attacker is struggling with a hamstring injury.

http://img.skysports.com/10/09/218x298/Lithuania-v-Scotland-Craig-Levein_2497979.jpg Levein: Tough test Scotland will need to be more adventurous when they face world and European champions Spain on Tuesday. Craig Leveinhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif has come in for criticism following his decision to use a 4-6-0 formation against the Czech Republichttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif on Friday and knows he must break those shackles at Hampden Park in midweek. A 1-0 defeat in Prague was not enough to see Scotland slip from second spot in Group I, but they have handed the initiative to their rivals and will be desperate to bounce back. The problem for Levein and his troops is that they could not have been handed a tougher task in their efforts to return to winning ways. Spain arrive in Glasgow as World Cup holders and defenders of the European Championship crown. They have made a perfect start in their efforts to reach the 2012 tournament, with seven goals plundered in their two fixtures to date. Vicente del Bosque has been keen to play down the invincibility of his side prior to their latest outing, insisting that they will not be underestimating the Scots. Spain, though, are the number one ranked side in the world and Scotland, ranked 47th in Fifa's list, will need to raise their game considerably if they are to spring a surprise.
