I believe that a ring with the info of an everyday ring issued by unions and put on birds as youngsters,will soon carry a chip. So only one ring, that stays with the bird the rest of it,s life. I heard that these were being tested this year, where I am not sure, so these would be issued by the unions, obviously at a higher price than todays registration ring, but no need to purchase the extra ETS ring. Certainly the way ahead I believe
