Learnt many years ago that the best remedy - outside of not drinking before anyone spouts as such - is prevention. When really nissed etc. last thing and best thing is toast spread with thick mustard. Yep it goes down a treat. sobers you up pronto and no hang overs. True, it works.

A good offer for any novice to learn the basis of homing / racing and losing pigeons. has to be the most cost effective way for any one. And if there is any Ian Benstead blood in these birds, then they will do the distance. No two ways about that. He is still reverde and high regarded for many a good distance man has his birds to thank as the Racing mags confirm every so often. Indeed just a few months back there was a good article on him and his birds. Likewise a couple of 'Names' that used his birds as foundations. Good luck to all and any that try these birds.

Not quite the same granted, and you in this case should perseverve as some have stated above. A bit different I know, but similar, is that I have some youngsters that went up to the old Cinema when first up and away to fly. I lose out some every year nowin this way as there are 100's of them. Now across the back of me, about 8 houses down, I see about 10 or so settled. I see them nigh every night for about an hour or so, then they are away. where to? who knows and I gave up caring. Yes I have forgotten them. I know - whether a fact or not, that if and when they ever return, 98% are never any good. They settle out first time a little hard. Work back at leisure. even after They have been rehoused and bred from. They know how to look after themselves and lack that 'Love of Home'. So you can never motivate them for starters. Hence I am saving on good feed. No I'm not saying that they are any good, or were culls, just that they will never be any other than that now. They preferred the Pictures place more than home and as such are 'Lost of the Top' and for the one in a 100 that might be good, of a wind blown home day just the odd time, they aren't what I want to send, for to pay money out one must have confidence in the birds... especially as feeding a bad one is just as expensive as feeding a good one!

Mick, no of course not is the straight truth! However folks will spout for the name regardless. Like how they will clutter up the bar to buy the rich - and so very often a tight selfish git - their' drinks and leave the wifes etc. thirsty. The workers of the club so little thought of, and held in low regards whilst the 'Name' does nowt but bragg and spout inuendos and / or porkies. They will Clamber to give the the able, and haves, yet look down upon and side step the more genuine, and less fortunate. Just look at the cries of Jealousy etc. and 'Knocking the 'Good Fancier' as they rally endlessly to support a 'Name' if anyone dare ask a decent, yet need to be answered question ... This isvery scenario is why feather merchants sell culls and make money, and genuinely good birds are refused and frowned upon. Need one go on. No of course not! Yet after you have pains takingly proven your' case, after hardious and labusious labour they flippantly side step it and say off handed 'So What' or a other flippant needless codwallop retort and still will deny you any credit, or an word to say your were right! Yep the same all over these isles I'm afraid.

Take away the nest, and then shoo them off every time they land. They will stay nigh forever if not. They’ll soon be away and build a nest elsewhere. Be glad with your fond memories of watching a great part of nature that you've had the joy to see. They won't hurt none let me assure you and will be nesting soon enough again elsewhere ... May I also say it is nice to see / read of others' kind deeds and acts of thoughtfulness. Well done, like many others we are thankful that such as you still exist. Well done!

Coolimans and Bussearts. SVR are obviously another tried and tested bird that abound 2 for a penny. Bussearts will do ANY distance depending on system. But at days end, you have to set up a system that suits you and what is practical and make the birds become suited to it. Yes of course losses will be high. Because many won't take to it. However if and when a regime is stuck to, then only the birds wanting and happy and content will be left. These will do the chores you've set them.
