  1. started snowing again this morning at 6.45 and got a good covering due to the wind creating snow drifts
  2. Vulture comes under Carion i believe which crows are the less abled members of and hawks come under same type i believe Carrion (from the Latin caro, meaning meat) refers to the carcass of a dead animal. Carrion is an important food source for large carnivores and omnivores in most ecosystems. Examples of carrion-eaters, or scavengers, include Hyenas, Vultures, Virginia Opossum, Tasmanian Devils, Black Bears, Komodo Dragons, Bald Eagles, Raccoons and Blue-tongued lizards. Many invertebrates, such as worms and carrion beetles (family Silphidae) also eat carrion and play an important role in recycling animal remains. Carrion begins to decay the moment of the animal's death, and it will increasingly attract insects and breed bacteria. Not long after the animal has died, its body will begin to exude a foul odour caused by the presence of bacteria and the emission of cadaverine and putrescine. Some plants and fungi smell like decomposing carrion and attract insects that aid in reproduction. Plants that exhibit this behavior are known as carrion flowers. Stinkhorn mushrooms are examples of fungi with this characteristic. This ecology-related article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it. Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrion" oops hawks different but surely as digest the whole animal if small bird must be effected the same way http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawk
  3. i was the one percent also ;D ;D ;D ;D
  4. i dont see it as grassing more preventing as last post said birds went missing perhaps destined for the table , if this is the case then if they were caught then hopefully there night time actions would stop
  5. im sure you can get simple shed alarms that go of when you open the door a good security light helps also
  6. well as long as thread doesnt incite crime or glorify crime then thread will stay , i do think that fanciers in your area do need warning , i hope you reported to police as the person that was bit may need a tetnus
  7. Billy Wilson may know someone he used to be a canary man

  10. nope no write ups on him on pipa.be
  11. i think one loft races are just a money making scheme and a couple of birds out of each loft is by no way a test of what bird is the best
  12. I agree in part that middle distance birds would get an advantage , but you could have sections to incorperate the distances flown in say 50 mile increments then i would split in to 3 sections in each strip east section central section and west so allthough the merit is given to the fastest velocity the birds that have achieved at the longer distances have there merit as well
  13. If we had the same racing as the continentals then who do you think would be the better fanciers ?
  14. yup true nationals arent a dream i think you have to start at club level and get as many clubs as possible to merge creating bigger clubs , then feds should be allowed to keep there place for club racing , then channel racing / nationals should be for everyone but you could have club fed and nation results to keep geographicaly challenged flyers the same intrests
  15. well i believe the U.N.C has the cream of the best lofts and results where birdage is high , Bourge can vary up to near 600 miles so a couple more races added to the programme would give you 700 mile races or just over im sure others would join to fly your channel points thats why i feel the channel racing should be done together then the fancier has more choice and thanks for your comments
  16. like im saying we probably get one or two chances to test our birds they can continualy test there birds but yet we can hold our own in the International competisions so if we test less and still win think of how well we could be developing our strains
  17. plenty of rollermen on here im sure someone can help
  18. i've been wanting a more nationalised system for years but them who have agained by keeping one basketing station wont let another open in fear of a true national been formed
  19. more would have ago if more basketing stations were allowed and suited those flying further and can get there birds picked up most of these so called nationals are inexcessable by the fanciers that wish to fly in them and some you have to pre pay before you send im sorry but i selected the day i basket not 2 weeks before they could be hawked lost smashed up anything in a period of two weeks
  20. no it wouldnt reflect the birds in this country in a fair view , rember on the continent they can near enough choose whichever race point each week to send , there birds to , this next example is a bad one but shows you how a family can develope quick using the continental method , Albert Marselles only ever sent to 2 race points to develope his birds becoming the sprint master of Belgium in our old bird programme he would get 2 races a year but a similar story for channel birds you at best get a few channel races into prove your birds each year but if you had the choice you would probably fly more from a point to specialise at your choosen distance so if we had more choice and a more national out look im sure we could and would lead the way
  21. i was rummaging about in it for my Christmas present , i think the postman may have nicked my free new years collection up to 6 birds in one transaction voucher ;D ;D ;D
  22. i gave one on another thread but as most marking stations stop in south yourkshire or beyond the Humber there not very well supported or accessable by all so results from these would only provide a very small percent of what could indeed be accomplished by the fanciers of our once great land
  23. our postmans a slacker , should of been here a fortnight ago lol ;D ;D ;D
  24. Thanks for the Christmas card , was very supprised to get it i must be the number one customer ;D ;D ;D ;D
