i quite agree need more protein as they go further short to middle with assisting winds less protein is needed , so theres no as much maples and peas in the diet / gerry but these are more or less replaced with the safflower which is high in oil
-
i would say yes its higher in fat content and fats do create energy , normal widowhood has more protein which takes longer to convert to energy thats why i put the Jan Aerts article up
-
that i also agree with your statement above i used to feed by pots in the boxes many years ago as instructed to do by a fellow fancier and hed weigh out all the feed by a desert type spoon then after 5 minutes hed go check on them and then start swapping them around one bird liked maples other liked maize and so on so hed swap so they got the grains they wanted , so abit pointless weighing out and measuring there feed out , it creates a bond with there box but i like to see birds competing for there feed this way they eat what you want them to eat rather than pick out what they want

The minority given the majority vote
OLDYELLOW replied to REDCHEQHEN's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
2 years ago they thought they could gain advantage seems they dint so changed it back i think all votes should be done by each member then the sec / fed deligates takes the number of votes to fed the fed president should then decide by all votes cast which way to go very democratic , this aint the way it goes but would be an ideal imo -
either way a sprinter or marathon runner wouldnt sit down to a full Sunday dinner after a race , they'd east light recouperate then eat as normal , body builders only eat loads of protein to bulk up , they eat more carbs to exert themselves
-
DURUPATIVE = mainly to keep weight off Diet = a little more rich in Carbohydrates , maize and safflower will put weight on birds but because very little protien they'll burn most off during flight / exercise
-
i feed to how i feel i need to feed i feed light building up during racing , as the distance gets further i feed slightly heavier but for easy to sprint no need for as much protein as Aerts said protein takes longer to convert to energy where as carbs are more instant

its been done several times , never gets the backing from the whole fraternity , if doesnt effect bob he wont sign because 5 friends have problems , thats his advantage aint it sadly people try to change this its like feeding an elephant with a peanut the R.S.P.B are far to well equipted they can get air time in any paper radio and stuff with great ease and use every oppertunity to brain wash the general public into there way of thinking
-
would love to know how many cats fanciers are having problems with probably can count on one finger how many lossed to cats i n last 20 year , birds of prey now have losted loads , birds flying into buildings what aload of tosh never ever seen a suicidal pigeon fly into a building , wires yes buildings never , yes have seen birds hit windows most get dazed never seen one killed by hitting a window , so can safely add these to the bop percentage of takes which would be more realisticaly be 40% of lost pigeons
-
it wont be long before theres no small birds then the bops will die out completely then they'll only have the ducks to buy ponds and create wetlands for then i suppose joe public will stop donating because they'll be no wild birds left , 30 years ago there was an abundance in small song birds many varieties were common place in gardens , the sound of the dawn chorus would wake you up , the gardens are now quite , farmers are loosing there natural defence against slugs and other crop insect pests , then it be back to harsher chemicals , which will further eradicate the small bird population and killing bops either through poisioning or starvation , the R.S.P.B should be proud and will be named as the greatest cause of the eradication of small birds in the U.K . This organisation has always pointed the blamed at magpies, crows loss of enviroment and cats but never birds of prey , rember one finger pointing another 3 pointing back shame on them .
