like anything a pigeon is only ever worth the price your willing to pay so if too much you either haggle or walk away , I think £30 for a pigeon is reasonable given the price of corn and the cost to keep stock birds , however stock or proven racers will all depend on how much you can keep the wife from spending

obviously been more dominate in the gene pool causing the throw backs , i usualy find within my old family that when i got full colours from grizzles these tended to be good birds , so i like throw backs
-
I'd go with that as the paternation can be carried recessive just like spread can be carried but not seen , so although the patern / colour breeding chart accounts for full colours theres always exception to the rules as throw backs can occur such as two blues breeding a ash pigeon
-
you'l get either cheq pied or dark grizzles as the colour is dark on the grizzle , with most ybs from grizzles you'l get one light other darker other pair could breed a variety of colours Blues , blue pieds dark grizzles , blue grizzle
-
as for the can question asked I've had light chequers from 2 blue bars before it all depends on what they've been bred from , if was from a pure blue barred family i'd say not possible, although two blue bars one carrying spread can breed blacks
-
the thing with grizzles if you pair them together you get dilute whites ( grizzles with very little colour ) and if you continue down this path you'l end up with whites , so its better to pair lighter grizzles back to full colours , if you want two grizzles together there better from darker coloured grizzles so as not to end up with too much white
-
Grizzles to gay pied breed nice grizzles however i'm with archie on this blue to grizzle although there be more blues than grizzles but they do look nicer Pied variations are just feathers lacking pigment

Just my preference of where I'd like to be in unc by the results of the fanciers names I've given , OK unc may have been topped more in Skinningrove or Loftus ,as said a batch could go over then up to 15 minutes later Marsey and Taylor would clock and top the UNC , last bird I can remember was there Bourge winner Wildermesch hen topped the UNC , Great flyers but also great positions , most unc guys say birds come up A19 unlike the one eyed birds on the coast to me Seaham Harbour or Great Ayton would be my preference To the first drops of Skinningrove and Lofus , during racing most of the nehu strays i get in are lost on the coast;)They may be the first drops but they certainly don't have the drag imo , Better to be sitting near A19 jmo
-
Chapman of seaham harbour few seasons ago and if you go back a bit further look at Mark Hartley of Great Ayton , then further back look at Marsay and Taylors results great positions Also friend of M and T used to watch there birds first batch would fly over few minutes later clock in topped UNC unbelievable but true

I have the use of a good vet , done me no wrong for years , tests keep coming back clear , only ailment I've had is canker in young birds but have drawn my own conclusion to that and have changed my practises to see if that helps failing that treating for canker at the time of year I've been getting it will be done , as for preventing any ailment you wouldn't take medication for a headache just in case you may get one , and no point in treating healthy birds for ailments they don't have , birds must have a strong constitution , they already have natural immunity built up within the flock over the years , most birds that need medications to survive have had there immunity compromised and no doubt about it the day will come when there drugged life comes to an end and no drug will help because misused over a long period , go back to 60's if it ailed it went no vets but the birds were more robust, drugs only disguise the weak birds in the loft that need removing imo
