  1. good on you snowy , brought up the hard way , but the right wayi remember what your old dad had to do to keep you all fed true, but when you were talking about ghosts, i thought there was either a ghost or a burglar in the kitchen about 4am, me being a coward picked up my walking stick and tip toed through, sure enough there was a slight noise, so i flung the door open ,ready with the walking stick,,,,it was my parrot got out and had the kitchen wrecked, youve heard the old one about the paracetamol, well there was a packet lying on the work top and it was true the" paratsetemall," it was none the worse for it, but i bet it never had a sore head for a few days ;D ;D ;D ;D dead true.
  2. I HAVE AQUIRED A BAG OF WHEATGERM POWDER, FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, OUT THE HEALTH SHOP, I WAS THINKING OF MIXING A LITTLE COD LIVER OIL TO THEIR MIX AND A SPRINKLE OF THIS WHEAT GERM POWDER ON IT ,WHILST THEIR BREEDING, DOES ANYONE THIMK THIS IS ADVISABLE OR NOT,
  3. YES, FITNESS, CONDITION, AND KEENESS .AND IN MY EXPERIENCE THE DARKNESS SYSTEM IS BEST FOR THIS.[ HAVING TRIED BOTH SYSTEMS]
  4. IF YOU CANNOT GET A DECENT SYSTEM FOR YBS OUT OF ALL THESE GEEAT POSTS, I WOULD BE TENDING TO HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT MY MANAGEMENT AND INDEED MYSELF, I MEAN THAT IN A GENUINE WAY AND NOT SMART IN ANY WAY.
  5. THE QUESTION I ASKED WAS [ ,AS SAID PREVIOUS] WHAT DANGER TO OTHER "BIRDS" [ MEANING ROOSTING PERIGRINES OFF COURSE]," BUT DANGER TO OTHER BIRDS " HAS BECOME DANGER TO OTHER SPECIES, I HAVE FOUND OUT THROUGH VARIOUS WEBSITES THAT THEY WILL KILL ANY BIRD OF PREY AT ROOSTING TIME, THAT NEST OR ROOST IN THE SAME HABITAT, AS DO PERIGRINES, ANY WAY YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU MAKE OF THE E MAIL, JIMMY
  6. e mail back from defra,,european wildlife division 1;08 temple quay house 2 the square, temple quay bristol bs1 6eb website www.defra.gov.uk. telephone 0117372 6170 DEAR MR WHITE EAGLE OWLS THANK YOU FOR YOUR E MAIL OF 2 DEC. TO MY COLLEAGUE,MR LAKIN, ABOUT THE STATUS OF EAGLE OWLS IN BRITTAIN. THIS HAS BEEN PASSED ON TO ME FOR REPLY AS THIS DEVISION HAS POLICY RESPNSIBILITY FOR BIRDS DIRECTIVE. I APOLOGISE FOR ANY DELAY IN REPLYING TO YOU. YOU ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION OF WHETHER THE OFFSPRING OF EAGLE OWLS [WHETHER CAPTIVE BRED ESCAPEES OR GENUINE MIGRANTS] CAN BE CONSIDERED AS WILD BIRDS.THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT EAGLE OWLS OCCURRED NATURALLY IN BRITTAIN IN RECENT TIMES AND THE SPECIES IS THEREFORE CONSIDERED BY MOST PEOPLE TO BE NON NATIVE. HOWEVER, AS MR LAKIN EXPLAINED,EAGLE OWLS COME WITHIN THE DEFINITION OF "WILD BIRDS" IN THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981" THE ACT". SECTION 1 [6] OF THE ACT EXCLUDES ANY BIRD WHICH CAN BE SHOWN TO HAVE BEEN BRED IN CAPTIVITY, THE PARENT BIRDS MAY THEREFORE NOT PROTECTED IF IT CAN BE SHOWN THAT THEY ARE CAPTIVE BRED ESCAPEES. THE CHICKS OF THESE BIRDS ARE PROTECTED AS THE EGGS WERE LAID WHEN THE PARENTS WERE IN THE WILD , AND THEREFORE WILD BIRDS. YOU ALSO ASKED WHETHER EAGLE OWLS POSED ANY DANGER [TO OTHER SPECIES] .JUST AS OTHER[ NATIVE] BIRDS OF PREY, EAGLE OWLS EAT OTHER ANIMAS, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY CAUSE POPULATION DAMAGE. A SCHEME FOR ASSESSING THE RISKS POSED BY ANY NON- NATIVE ORGANISM TO SPECIES,HABITATS OR ECOSYSTEMS IN ALL OR PART OF THE UK HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. IT PROVIDES A STRUCTURED FRAMEWORK FOR EVALUATING THE POTENTIAL FOR ANY NON- NATIVE ORGANISM, WHETHER INTENTUALLY OR UNINTENTUALLY INTRODUCED, TO ENTER, ESTABLISH, SPREAD AND CAUSE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT IN ALL OR PART OF THE UK . THE SCHEME HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN ITS MOST UP TO DATE VERSION, BUT IT IS INTENDED THAT THIS WILL BE UPDATED IN LINE WITH THE RESULTS OF ADDITIONAL RESEARCH TO TRIAL THE METHODOLOGY, WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED LATER THIS YEAR. OUR INTENTION IS TO USE THE RISK ASSESSMENT SCHEME IN THE FUTURE TO PRIORITISE ANY ACTION ON THOSE SPECIES THAT POSE THE HIGHEST RISK. YOURS SINCERELY , CHRISTINE RUMBLE, SPECIES ADVISOR, DEFRA.
  7. I THINK THE POLL SAYS IT ALL :)
  8. I REMEMBER STEALING APPLES AS A KID, THE FARMER WAS CHASING ME ,I JUST GOT TO THE WALL TO DICE OVER IT , WITH MY BEHIND STICKING UPWARDS, WELL DID HE STRIKE ME WITH HIS SHEPERDS CROOK,[WHICH I FELT] ONCE OVER THE WALL I SHOUTED BACK , WAIT TILL MY DAD GETS YOU, WHEN I GOT HOME ,I TOLD MY DAD, AND HE CLOUTED ME RIGHT OVER THE EARHOLE, SAID THATLL GO WITH YOUR SORE ASS ,,,DONT DO IT AGAIN.
  9. disabled tt
  10. i think its fairly obvious what he means A LAZY PIGEON FANCIER
  11. yes poor in those days ;D ;D ;D [still poor] ;D ;D ;D i remember mother putting the six of us to the one bed 3 at one end and 3 at the other, what made it worse most of us were bed wetters, someone said to me which end of the bed did you sleep at, I SAID THE SHALLOW END ;D ;D ;D
  12. YOUR SPOT ON THERE ROSE , A LOT OF CHICKEN, AND PHEASANT PELLETS CONTAIN ANTIBIOTICS [NOT THEM ALL BUT MOST OF THEM] AND IF EVER I DID FEED PELLETS IWOULD MAKE SURE THEY GOT HARD CORN AS WELL, AS THE GIZARD [uSED FOR MASTICATING THE GRAIN] WOULD BECOME REDUNDANT, BUT THERE ARE MANY GOOD PIGEON PELLETS ON THE MARKET THAT CONTAIN LOTS OF VITS AD FISH OILS, [ ;D ;D ;D IM JUST AWAY TO BOIL A HADOCK FOR THE BIRDS ;D ;D ;D]
  13. i would say having won well enough in the centre of the fed [no advantage position or wind ]and won most averages in a big radius club flying at the almost furthest n, s.. e,, w,,positions, at one time or other, and scored well enough in nationals giving 60 miles away sometimes[ inc 2nd nat[if your pigeons spot on you can do it. but ,,,,there has to be favourites in loft position and wind.
  14. beans are a great scource of protein and are quite cheap, but i beleive there are good beans and bad beans, depending on the harvest, and the way they are stored, ideal for the moult , feeding ybs and distance birds , even sprint birds can easily be kept fit on beans, if worked well, but i would preffer to add a lighter mix for them, thats why i fed on the floor and in the boxes, for a variety of reasons, as my distance birds and my sprint birds were in the same loft
  15. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADDY ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D HAVE A GREAT DAY
  16. good news snowy , best of luck
  17. sent another e mail to enquire if my last one went missing" accidently"all i am asking is why the eagle owl is detrimental to the environment, and what danger does it pose to other birds,??? they answered the first one quick enough. my freind lewis picked up another pigeon after being killed by perigrine whilst working on forth bridge, some one has taken the ring to report it it was an s,u.05 c.a. bird if i get the number ill post it on the sight, hes telling me it goes on everyday, lewis s loft is right at the bridge and hes had plenty pigeons killed.

  22. tricho. organisms may also enter through the body through the unhealed naval of squabs. in this form necrotic tumour like swellings occur under the skin ,adjacent to the naval, lesions can spread to various internal organs, particularly the liver
  23. i used do the same as you wings, i had a few show racers in a wee loft and aviary, i only bred about 4 for a bit interest in the winter, but they were handy for floating eggs off the best racers
  24. I FULLY UNDERSSTAND YOU BRUNO ,IN WHAT YOUR SAYING, AND I REMEMBER SAYING THAT, ABOUT SENDING THEM WITH THEIR JACKETS ON, BUT THESE DARKNESS YBS ARE , JUST THE SAME AS THE"NATURAL YBS"BRED IN DEC .ONLY THEIR SHIFTED FORWARD A COUPLE OF MONTHS, AND PUT ON ARTIFICIAL DARKNESS, BOTH THESE BIRDS WILL ONLY HAVE A BODY MOULT BUT CAST NO FLIGHTS, SO THEY ARE GOING TO THE RACES WITH LESS STRESS [bODY MOULT]AND BOTH THESE BIRDS, THE STREET PIGEON AND THE ARTIFICIAL DARKENED PIGEON, WILL STILL HAVE A SECOND BODY MOULT AFTER THE RACING , WHEN THEY HAVE PERFECT PEACE TO MOULT WITHOUT ANY STRESS, IT DOESNT AUTOMATICLY SAY YOUR GOING TO WIN , AS THEY STILL HAVE TO BE PERFECT SPECIMENS AND TRAINED AND MANAGED WELL. BUT I DO APPRECIATE THAT IF YOUR RACING NATURAL YBS, AT LEAST YOUR GIVING THEM A BREAK AS THEY MOULT,IF YOU READ ON ONE OF MY PREVIOUS POSTS I WAS DOUBTFULL AT FIRST, BUT THAT WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO, WHEN I TRIED BOTH SYSTEMS, AND AS OLD BIRDS FOUND IT MADE NO DIFFERANCE WHATSOEVER , WHETHER THEY HAD BEEN ON DARKNESS OR NATURAL, SO YOU CAN BREED IN FEB, AND SAVE 2 MONTHS GRUB [TIGHT SCOT] :) JIMMY
  25. I USED TO FEED BOTH ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE BOXES. I FELT IF THERE WAS A HOLDOVER THE BIRDS WOULD EAT MORE READILY IN THE BASKET, ASO FED IN BOXES MORE PROTEIN FOR DISTANCE BIRDS, ALSO A PINCH OF RED BAND, TO GET THEM WELL USED TO MY HAND GOING IN THE BOX [WHICH THEY GRATEFULLY JUST ABOUT TOOK OFF] :)
