  11. remembering marching down the main road in the boys brigade[about 50 of us] [5th company], with all the mothers and fathers looking on proudly then one young lad ,clearly out of step, his mother was heard to say to his father ,,,,,,look at that,,,their all out of step except our wee billy ;D,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,theorie, in pigeon circles ,,,,,,,theres the odd one like wee billy ;D ;D ;D [and his father and mother ;D] ;D ;D ;D
  12. i think most of us know the basic rudiments of flying widow hood ,out1hour in the morning , rest during the day then one hour of an evening ,,,,,,,,has anyone ever tried [especialy for the distance, ] of letting w hood cocks out 6 am and leaving them [hopper fed ] out all day and closing up last thing of an evening ??? just a thought
  13. yes, i seen this too, its unthinkable the items that will go up in price [not just pigeon food]
  14. i would say tony , their more likely to start throwing flights after sitting about 10 to 14 days sitting second round eggs , after rearing their first round [some birds moult faster than others, or some families moult faster than others ]

  19. ive sent 12 week old well trained ybs to the first race and done well with them ,, and remember , these birds will be better suited flight wise[moult ] for the longer races on natural
  20. if its healthy ,,give it a go
  21. i would say the important thing is the room , less birds =less stress = less illness == less loses,,,,, those that breed 100 in a too small loft are courting disaster
  22. think birds will come into condition quicker with loft facing south east , but for conditioning birds for longer, later races facing west , you can allways let them out early, to catch the early morning sun ,,,,,,,,,,when it suits
  23. theres a thread on this on the young fanciers postings

youll probably find most of these birds are yearlings , they can be a real pest , but will settle down eventually
  25. i wonder how many will carry on making the same mistake year after year , in training birds far to early in cold east winds , a few trainers in these and the birds are finished for the season then we have the darkness system , this system must be adhered to properly, none of this forgetting to put the blinds down that night , then left later another night, this system has to be done right or not at all, as it will just upset the birds moult ,,,just my opinion and observation of some fanciers
