Mickb has asked me to post the following pair of birds to be sold with the proceeds going to Valindre Hospital via Gail J.

Both birds are 1998 but have been fully fertile this year. The Cock is a Silvere Toye and the Hen a Buschaert.

First pic shows the pair and the second pic shows one of there youngsters from this year.

Mick only bought them earlier this year but as he hasn't got the room for many stock birds wants to pass them on.

Starting bid is £50 and they are to be sold as a pair. The birds are in Ireland but can be moved to Oxford next Wednesday.

Sale ends 9pm on Monday 22nd June 2009.

More Details:-

Right the cock was a stock bird for R.Telfer and son, Motherwell, raced as a yearling then stock. He was named "Cara Quatrain". He is actually a Silvere Toye x Delbar. His sire is "Cara Gold Medal", pure Silvere Toye, bred by Betts and Hill, Notts, winner 1st fed Thurso (and gold medal) and 8th Fed Lerwick. Mother of Quatrain is "Cara Ode" from two delbars, her sire "Cara SRN" 1st  fed Niort (488 miles) and her dam "The 44 hen", bred by Mr Mrs Colvin Newcastle. quote on pedigree as the 44 hen being "the best racing hen in the NE England"! This cock has fed winners on both sides from 400 miles+!

The hen was also a R.Telfer and Son stock bird. She is "Cara Quantify", and has some tremendous old original Busschaert blood in her. Her sire is "Cara Bourges" bred and raced by Mr Mrs Graham, Durham, winner of 3rd 632 birds, 2nd club, 4th fed, 10th Durham Combine Beauvais, 1st club, 1st fed 7th Durham combine Bourges 563 miles. Sire of Cara Bourges  from direct Georges Busschaert and champion Chequers (1st WDA Beauvais!), and his dam was 1st fed Tours!. Dam of Cara Quantify is Cara Provins, bred by harrison & Blackett, Newcastle but raced by Mr Mrs Colvin.  Cara Provins was obviously a good racer, but the bit of paper with her performances on i seem to have misplaced.

The auction will need to finish at 10pm on Sunday 21st June 2009

Hi as PJC says, if these fail to produce next year (or even this!!), i will breed the purchaser a pair of YBs from my stock loft. At th moment i don't have a stock loft (being built) but believe me the birds i have already ordered are the real McCoys. Anyone who knows me knows i never keep crap or sell it!! Any not upto the mark are not sold they are buried!
