Guest Owen Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I used to breed various sorts of pheasants. Golden pheasants are beautiful. But they can be nasty little devils. If you are not careful they will kill any hen you put in with them. And the cocks will fight unless they have grown up together. Another breed that are very similar to the Golden is the Lady Amherst Pheasant. they are very closely related but the Amherst is even more colourful. they are ideal to keep on the floor of a mixed aviary. They breed well when you can get a pair to take to each other or else you can run a number of hens with one cock. The eggs are best put under a broody bantam. The young are tiny and will escape through the smallest of cracks, so you have to make very sure that you have them secure.
