pault Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 381 sigs now381 sigs now at this rate we have no chance of getting pigeon racing reconisied as a sport
Back garden fancier Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 If pigeon racing becomes a sport won't we have to pay tax? I know that the local golf club always gives out golf stuff as prizes to avoid tax. Can you imagine if our winnings were taxed. The big one loft and gold ring races wouldn't be as attractive?
Guest Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 If pigeon racing becomes a sport won't we have to pay tax? I know that the local golf club always gives out golf stuff as prizes to avoid tax. Can you imagine if our winnings were taxed. The big one loft and gold ring races wouldn't be as attractive? I think the cost of collection would be a lot lot more than the income itself, so its unlikely to happen. My understanding is that the latest initiative was started when government let it be known that pigeon club premises would pay full business-rate council tax. In my club's case that would have been £400 a year and that was at 2005 prices. Few club balance sheets can stand that sort of annual expenditure and I think that's what the current initiative is fighting to avoid. Its good to see from the 15th Dec Article on this site that RPRA have publicised Geraint's petition in BHW so hopefully when its published it'll get a spurt of support from that.

Guest Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 You can't make people sign it but if they care about the sport then they should just spare 2 minutes to sign it.
