mealybar Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Would like to thank couple of fanciers on the forum for breeding me birds, last year, this year, and whenever else . Stopped off at home for the weekend and here's some photos Pic DSC00116 - Youngsters out yesterday, different ages so some flying some settling off Pic DSC00117 - No no, far too much like hard work, will try that flying game after 40 winks ;D
mealybar Posted June 2, 2006 Author Report Posted June 2, 2006 Update on the birds, Jim, yours are all still here, mind you one stopped off at Kelloe (10 miles away) a few weeks ago John, all are still here, and the latest couple have settled well in the middle section - not going out yet. Cut the food down when I got home (Mon), they were flying 10 mins, today they flew just over an hour and a half (5 days). Really pleased with them, well would be if they would trap up for me..lol Still their getting better, it'll be time before they get to know me. Couple of pics taken this morning. DSC00143 - Narrowly avoiding the wires. DSC00142 - Flying out.
mealybar Posted June 2, 2006 Author Report Posted June 2, 2006 A pic of the view looking south directly infront of the lofts. On a good day you can see Redcar beach to the south east, Middlesborough Transporter Bridge and the Riverside Stadium direct south, in the background are the Cleveland hills/North Yorks Moors. Might be able to see Roseberry Topping just on the photo. :) Oh yeah the fence (if you can call it that! - white tape) in the picture is meant to keep the horses out, but to be fair they keep the grass down ;D :X
westburylofts Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 Nice set up, Yb's look well ans would kill for that view Ray
mealybar Posted June 9, 2006 Author Report Posted June 9, 2006 Getting used to the race basket, I put a bit of seed inside the pannier, and placed it in the loft with the front flap open.
paul l Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 nice open space for birds to fly there mate
storm rollers Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 may seem a daft question as im not a racer but why is the basket in there with them just wondered :B
Guest Paulo Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 You need to train the pigeons to get used to being in the basket my young jedi. Just helps them getused to being in it for racing very important part of the training. Also put feeders and drinkers on outside of the basket to get them used to getting feed in the transporter if there is an holdover
storm rollers Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 lol thanks and may the force be with you lol
Guest Paulo Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 nee worries do you show the birds then or just as pets?
storm rollers Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 thinking about racers though but seems complicated
Guest Paulo Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Everybody on heres helpful enough and theres tons of videos and that I'd go for it mate its dead interesting when you get in to it.
storm rollers Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 definetly thinking about it might get a couple of videos and check it out
mealybar Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 Your right (didnt see the post till just now) I took the photo when I was letting the birds get to know the basket. The way I basket them is I open the front (big) flap and round up the birds sheep dog style into the basket, close the flap and I'm away down the road. Its really quick and doesnt get the birds stressed if your catching them each time - they'll associate the stress of catching with the basket which aint how I want them to be ;D
Guest CS Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Lovely photos, We went to Richard's lofts to picked the ybs up which i purchased 4 ybs from the pigeonbasic auction,,,, lovely birds and very good view................................
