some one had shared this on facebook today, ive only been in to pigeons for a short while and it still annoys the hell out of me seeing some of the comments people have wrote... especially the ones that are incorrect... wish people would get their facts right before writing about it

Why are you surprised? Pigeons and Pigeon Fanciers have been given a bad press for a very long time now. I have no doubt that the fact that there are filthy feral pigeons scrounging around in most towns that gives the idea that these are racing pigeons. In fact it is surprising how many of these so called ferals have rings. The General Public wouldn't know the difference and would not be interested in finding out. Add to all this the great job that the RSPB have done with their publicity and you can see why we have little or no support for our pigeons from the Public.

We have never managed to get the organizers of our sport to get off their bums and work on our Public Image. As far as I can see the Unions are just there to record rings and handle stray reports because they never try to deal with Public Relations.
