Guest Owen Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Why are you surprised? Pigeons and Pigeon Fanciers have been given a bad press for a very long time now. I have no doubt that the fact that there are filthy feral pigeons scrounging around in most towns that gives the idea that these are racing pigeons. In fact it is surprising how many of these so called ferals have rings. The General Public wouldn't know the difference and would not be interested in finding out. Add to all this the great job that the RSPB have done with their publicity and you can see why we have little or no support for our pigeons from the Public. We have never managed to get the organizers of our sport to get off their bums and work on our Public Image. As far as I can see the Unions are just there to record rings and handle stray reports because they never try to deal with Public Relations.
