EdBar Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Here are pictures of my new lofts. I bult them for about $180 U.S. including the V-perches and they work great for my Southern California location. I live in the high desert and we get strong winds the finished loft has been through a few good wind and rainstorm with no problems. I have about 40 perches inside and I'll be adding breeding boxes on the back walls. I'm also adding vents along the bottom for increased ventalation. The tarps on the sides come down tight for bad weather and wind.[/img]
The White Rapido Man Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 lovelyv job....................simple but effective... Where do you intend to breed.......or are they YB lofts
EdBar Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 I'm going to install breeding cages in the back of these lofts.

EdBar Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 This is what I was using before with great results for open loft breeding.
chickadee Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Very nice, wish we could get away with something like that in scotland,It would certainly cost a lot less and it would be quicker to build. ;D
EdBar Posted November 14, 2007 Author Report Posted November 14, 2007 We don't get very much rain because it's a desert but we do get the occassional cloud burst and sometimes a little snow.
homebird Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 interesting loft designs and use of building materials, nice pigeons aswell. What breeds do you keep? and who do you race against?
EdBar Posted November 14, 2007 Author Report Posted November 14, 2007 I keep Birmingham Rollers, English Trumpeters and White Homers. At this point I don't race anyone but I really want to get some racing pigeons and get into racing.
chickadee Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Don't the birds get too hot with it being in the desert?
EdBar Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Posted November 16, 2007 The birds do fine in the summer, it gets up to 110-115f here but the humidity is about 11%. The evenings are in the low 70s. As far as the satellite dish, I believe in providing my birds with only the finest navigational equipment available! LoL ;D
