DOVEScot Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Can anyone tell me if these white pigeons have more hawk attacks or not thanks I think if a hawk may just get used to a prey then it picks on them. I was told by a member that a hawk in her area passes the whites and picks out the coloured ones every time :-/

I was told by a member that a hawk in her area passes the whites and picks out the coloured ones every time :-/ I think hawks go off results ie if there are birds about in certain places at certain times they keep coming back, you have to try and outwit them,if you have a hawk attack then that hawk was sucesful and he will be back same time same place next day.You have to break the cycle, let the birds out at different times, keep the birds in for a few days following an attack, move plastic owls about etc, etc,to be honest you are fighting a loosing battle, all you can do is try and make it more difficult for the hawk in question or do something else about it.

Chrissy we do all that, we have only lost two in three years, also one hawked twice and survived both times, despite staying on the edge of woodland that has hawks in it.
