I was gona pack in this year, so got rid of a lot of birds, but kept the above as pets, but have decided to just race a few channel races with them ;D ;D ;D The dark hen is on loan from Paulo of this site ;D
Guest CS Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Nice birds, Steve... how many are you breeding off this pairs???...
stevebelbin Posted February 23, 2007 Author Report Posted February 23, 2007 Cheers Craig, not many pairs left eh LOL, ill be taking a round of them, the main channel candidates will bring up single YBs, and the others a pair. Have to see what hatches first like ;D. Then ill split them off and send to the first few inland races on roundabout as training, and repair them in stages for the channel races etc. I havent raced hens for years, so it will be interesting preparing them ;D ;D

Passed my driving test now mate so I will be able to bring that bird through I bred you once I have some wheels. If they all race as well as they look you should clean up this year. Whats the reds pedigree has he got pluto in it Well done Paul, you will be able to train the bollocks of your YBs now youve past your test ;D. Not sure what blood the red has in him, ill have a look at his parents pedigree later, he is out of my mates stock loft, and his sire won a good few races for him. Its the dam that the red comes from, so ill check to see what her pedigree says. They wont get much racing to be honest, just a few inland training races and into 400-550 miles ;D ;D
Guest CS Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Steve, Do you just send all old birds to a few inland races then send them to Bourges (560 miles) ?
stevebelbin Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 Craig, I would normally have them on widowhood for the channel, but cant get them on the day from bourges, which is my main aim this year (main aim most years to be honest lol). Having read loads of articles etc and talking to a few people, im gona try them natural, with just a few inland races as training, + 15miles every morning and 40miles training 14, 12 and 10 days before their main race :-/ :-/
carl Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 smashing birds steve glad you are racing as last time i spoke with you,you were packing in.Steve will you be racing all the channel races and what about the nationals.Im looking forward to the 2007 season as 2006 was very good for me,couldnt stop them mate.
stevebelbin Posted March 6, 2007 Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 Hi carl, yeh Ill be racing mainly channel races and using the inland as training, as Ill not always be there to clock them. I intend on doing a lot of mountain biking on weekends, so the birds will have to get themselves in for the inland races and ill be there waiting on channel races. I let them out for their first fly in a long while this morning and they did a good half hour and where clapping about all over And ive never really tried in young bird racing so I think ill give it a go this year! Good luck for this year Carl, keep up the good work
