DOVEScot Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 A grey squirell will end up chewing through feed bins ect 2 get 2 the feeding unless there metal. Get a cage set that will solve the problem. There jst a rat with a fur coat I thought all rats had fur coats ;D ;D ;D
j.childs Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 furry tail.......scaley tail.........both the same sort of thing which is BAD NEWS..i would get rid of as soon as possible
Guest ljb107 Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 As soon as they become tame they will not be scared of you therefore it will be around all of the time and will probably attract more. If it gets into your loft it will destroy it. Best to get rid of it before it can cause any damage. Lloyd
Tony C Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 tell you one thing they make a lovelly pot of soup ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Contrary to beliefs a pubic hare in ya soup aint that bad either!
Guest Vic Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Tony C. Whatever turns you on, re your taste buds. What's happened to the Jellied eels in your quarters? 'Twas an antidote after the plague, some say! lol

Guest Vic Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Maybe calling it a day, this time round. Time is our enemy, and it has speeded up, more than ever. Although I love my pigeons, there comes a time, when more important matters loom. Good Luck. Vic.
invalidusername Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Maybe calling it a day, this time round. Time is our enemy, and it has speeded up, more than ever. Although I love my pigeons, there comes a time, when more important matters loom. Good Luck. Vic. Good for you Vic for taking an interest in the squirrel. We had a squirrel in our garden for about a month or two (a couple of years ago). I didn't actively encourage it or feed it, it just used to come onto our bird table and 'steal' their food. Not many squirrels spotted around my way either, and it was fascinating watching it. Highly intelligent. At the end of the day, they're survivors, and have adapted quickly to the UK from the US. I think it was mainly the Duke of Bedford who is to blame for introducing them here. Reds are my favourite, but Man, viruses, etc are seeing to them one by one :-( Squirrels are vegetarian, so just keep your feed secure, Vic and enjoy your squirrel and your birds.
DOVEScot Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Squirrels are vegetarian, so just keep your feed secure, Vic and enjoy your squirrel and your birds. Squirrels may be vegetarian but when the food stocks are being taken by intruders like pigeons the will attack them, we still have loads of squirrels as we stay on the edge of a large area of woodland, we just discourage them from coming near the lofts They have attacked our birds and taken eggs before so not entirely vegetarians :-/

I don't think they are going to be as common where Vic is though. I think he should enjoy his squirrel until there's trouble. There might not be.

True, we have had them for years and on had trouble last year, but it was carnage till we found out it was a squirrel, soon as I posted I thought the vegans would chuck the eggs ;D ;D ;D

Guest Vic Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I,m now in two minds. It was taking peanuts from my fingers today, but didn't turn up till after 1300 hrs, and Lo & Behold! It brought another one along. I leave some small amounts of corn and peanuts in a Black full size bin, close to the lofts. I noticed today that the lid had been chewed in two places, leaving quite large bits of plastic strewn around. They must have very powerful teeth. In fact I was a bit wary feeding it, as it could take part of a finger off, if the bin is anything to go by. Anyway, it seems Cyril has had its day. Sadly, no fairy tale ending. Cheers, Vic
Guest Vic Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 By the way, Cyril turned up unacompanied today, seems he is using it as a Macs. They are far and few around this neighbourhood, (MORE MACS THAN SQUIRRELS, IF YOU GET THE GIST). Anyway ! I was going to try and write a verse on CYRIL, and seeing that most of us are licking our wounds. over a disasterous weekend, for some. (I finished ok myself 20/20, although one has a hole in its side) I will offer my few measly lines. Can you add to them? You may be a poet and don't really know it. Here Goes. LOL. This little furry creature, be it red, or black even grey, Ventured into my garden, during the middle of May I posted it on pigeon basics, And was surprised what some had to say!

But one thing that is certain, He knows that Vic wont hurt him, Cyrils "twigged" on, that I am just too soft.

But come the fall when times are hard An there's nae peanuts in oor Vic's yard Vic will shriek "his coat is red" Cause in the loft, he's left some dead. Then we'll see where the loyalty lies And look beyond that cute disguise As Vic takes aim with bloodshot eyes A Davy Crocket hat will be his prise. Noo, wee Cyril's in the sky He's got angels wings and learnt tae fly He feels ashamed at what he's done By makin Vic, use that gun He feels what it's like tae be a burd An noo he's spreadin roon the wurd He wants tae come back as a Doo An win that big race, jist for you. VIC. (evil)(evil)(evil)(evil)
